Chance Brisbane gets a priority pick? They've been a basket case a long time now. If they AFL isn't going to give them one now, when on earth would they EVER give one?

Hypothetically, if they do get one, will it impact our draft much? Moving from 4 to 5?

Would eliminate the chances of one of the favoured few getting to us.

Brisbane's issue is coaching, facilities, retention not personnel. They have heaps of young players coming through.

Never assume anything when it comes to trade week stranger things have happened .
The landscape when it comes to player movement has changed recently players now can change clubs much more easily than they use to be able to . As you say gibbs most likely will stay and i agree he will . But Its that time of year again where all and sundry get mentioned in a possible trade and not just by us BF junkies . Thats the landscape of our game . The fact that gibbs is a south australian also lends itself to the talk .

That's fair enough, but I can tell you that Gibbs doesn't want to go back home to SA and the club has no intention of trading him. It's fanciful to think a club would give us what we would request as a trade for Gibbs.

Evans said the AFL would prefer to investigate structures for helping clubs rebound outside the old priority pick system, which was scrapped in 2012.

"I think we would like to consider how you could get clubs to rejuvenate quicker than the current system, but there are dangers with the priority pick system we had – that's why we took it out," Evans told 3AW radio on Tuesday night.

Won't affect our first round pick by the sounds of it.

surely brisbane wont get a priority pick. they have some real young talent on their list and they have access to an academy. seems that the issues are off field more than their playing list

Something big is being cooked up for next years trade/ free agency period. This I can not divulge into.
I expected as much that if it was not this year for strategic reasons then it would be next year , Silvani will have plenty of flexibility and cape space mobility.
Really hope it's a talented big KPF , we're desperately in need of a worthy focal point in front of goals.
Thanks for the heads up Marc Shmurf3.

Brisbane would start as red hot favourites this week if not for their injury list - The Beams Bros, Tom Bell, Bewick, Christensen, Harwood, McStay, Paparone.

A priority pick when they have priority access to players like Eric Hipwood on an annual basis???

Carlton, supposedly, had the worst list in the afl since Fitzroy and wont win a game all year. Brisbane will have one of the best midfields in 2016 and start to climb the ladder.

Fast forward a couple of months and Carlton gas won 6, possibly 8 by the end of the season, and Brisbane are now the new "wosrt list since Fitzroy " .....

Give them a year without injuries and some success with their academy (which they got some steals with ladt year) and they could rebound really quickly. Oh and a new coach, Leppa should have been sacked last year .....

IF they do give out a PP it should either be at the end of the first year, or before the finalists. A PP to help rebuild one team shouldn't negatively effect the rebuilding of another struggling team .....

I agree that the Lions issues are a lot worse than on field. I genuinely see them as possibly a 4-6 year rebuild.

The back rooms are just a festy mess. It really is. They are being let down by poor management who have repeatedly made poor decisions in regards to coaching and spending. They have tried to recruit players, but most of the time they've amounted to not much.

They need someone like Bolton who can join the club and genuinely change the environment, although I'm not sure how many of him there are. 1 last I checked, but I could be wrong...

Perhaps they AFL could entice a certain Paul Roos to consider doing something similar he's done to Melbourne.. 3 year contract with a strong succession plan.

Brisbane have a good midfield and some very promising young KPP (although almost non-existent developed KPP).

Injuries are a major issue this year but there also seems to be something NQR.

Poor facilities / admin is the background. But on top of that it's got to be bad coaching, coach has lost the players, bad culture, something.

Ok how about #22 for Marchbank then?

Pick #16 -> Scrimshaw

I'm really not fussed about Tomlinson, if they throw him in for an extra later pick then why not, but I don't see him becoming anything more than a depth player.

Steele will have too much competition with other clubs. Will increase his value. Not worth getting involved.
If we got another second round pick from somewhere, based on value, I would either trade them to GWS for a late first round pick and Marchbank or use them to pay for Marchbank, Tomlinson, Stewart and one of their plethora of mids.

If Tomlinson turns into a depth player for us in the future... is that such a bad thing? We desperately need talented depth players.

Well they did not give Melbourne one a few years ago and I thought they had a good case.

Emphasis should now be on convincing Thomas to hang em up sooner than later

Why...?

He doesn't need to retire, he'll be out of contract by the end of next season, and we can make our own decision on him then. Either retain him on a much lower wage, or offload him for whatever we can get (I reckon there'd be a few clubs who'd offer up a second rounder).
