The only shocking thing about players being shopped around by the club is the fact that Ken didn't drop some of them when he had the oppurtunity.

If he doesn't see their future being at Port then why did he leave underperformers in the team for so long?

I don't think that ' steal' is the way to think. Really needs to be a fair deal for both clubs

You have no way of knowing this. Jimmy Toumpas can get 40 possessions in a sanfl game, he'd get 50 in the neafl. No one would give up pick 20 for him, not even another Port supporter.

Given Lobbe's terrible contract I can imagine Chris Davies yelling "start the car" to KT waiting in the carpark while he gathers together the signed paperwork as frantically as possible.

St Kilda is also linked to everyone it seems, but i can settle for pick 10. Just about the right value for HH.

Cam Hewitt and Dan Houston should be retained for another year at least, still developing

I really don't think Krakouer has done enough to be promoted. So many lazy bloody kicks last year in the backlines, several of which directly turned over for a goal. Also a number of lazy moments in defence where he couldn't be bothered running with his man. Sure, he also had some very nice moments - but the inconsistency in effort is killing us and Krak is a prime example in the playing group of that. I wouldn't be upset if we delisted him tbh.

Also, people seem to be getting overly hyped about Steele because they hear his name on this board a lot. I'd suggest heavily watering down expectations of him if he does arrive. The NEAFL is a full tier below SANFL level, and his performances at AFL level have been ok but not anything great. He is no certainty to walk straight into our best 22.

There would be truth but complete misdirection about this whole 9 players on $500k wank.

We probably do have 9 players that will get paid that much next year when you factor in match payments, but what everyone is running with and assuming is that we have 9 players on $500k a year for the next 3-4 years which would be total BS.

Front/back ended deals probably has us in a perfect storm for this year, however all it would take would be for the Gus/Ryder money decision to be made and all the perceived salary cap 'pressure' is gone as we use that money to cover these wages + more to attract a FA.

IMO the club was stung hard with the AFL'S ruling on top ups and is probably putting in place a contingency for when they canvass the other 17 clubs and will eventually deny us the ability to use their non-paid salary how the current rules dictate.
