While Hartley was in charge, Parker was assistant recruiting manager in 2009 so he was definitely involved.

Which brings us to an issue that has bugged me for awhile. Why is it that every single employee that moves on always takes the opportunity to **** us over in their last year? Hartley could have recruited Talia and Carlisle with 8 and 9 and we would have been set for key position defenders for 10 years, but he recruited two spuds instead. Alan Stewart's "parting gift" from his last year at the club was so absolutely shit that I've forgotten what players we drafted. And Rhode was the one who oversaw the negotiations for Lobbe (if you think Davies did it in the couple of weeks he was in the job, that's pretty funny).

It's like they want to protect their reputation by ensuring that the next guy starts off in the shithouse.

That's why I'm all for guys like Lade and Tredrea getting involved with the club. At least you know they'll have our best interests, rather than their interests, at heart.

Had a great weekend in Melbourne. Atmosphere at the Jackpot bar, Crown was sensational. So many supporters from different clubs united together to support the dogs. It was so loud every time they scored. Sometimes it's not about our team, it's about the game and yesterday was great for the game.

I don't like yesterdays result at all, but it has no bearing on how I feel about the PAFC currently, which hasn't changed sinced our recent delistings. Ok acutally it has. Seeing their happy holidays snaps lowered my opinion even further.

Exactly who cares.
Rather than hoping someone else cops a bigger hammering, our fans should be wanting to see our club nullify that "memory" by being a dominant football club with multiple flags in succession and over a period of ten-twenty years and so on.
For me I don't give a **** if the next 500 grand finals are decided by less then 3 goals. I want to see Port become one of the most successful in the AFL, that to me is of more importance than the insignificance of what margin other clubs lose a grand final by.

Stop being pissant South Australians, you're Port supporters not Crows customers.

I guess two views there. Firstly they've had and blown multiple chances since the mid 90s so tough. The second is that they successfully stayed near the top for almost 20 years despite a lot going against them and even now are clawing their way back up impressively.
At least Melbourne have has significant success, even though it's well in the rear-view mirror.

I'm guessing that Pete's comment comes from the Demons now having the longest premiership drought, 1964 to St. Kilda 1966. I'm one that's actually happy for the Doggies, it's hard to think of them as Premiers though.

Also, I think this is a good thing for our boys. We do have talent on our list, it just hasn't performed to expectations for two years. Plus we got games into the lower part of our group this season. For the Bulldogs this year was an ultimately successful version of what we saw in 2014. The boys should be able to see that if they can reestablish that level of commitment and love that anything is possible.

The Saints have a ridiculous ability to be at the top of the table then drop suddenly, then be at the top again super quick. In the last twenty years they surely have as many top 4 finishes as bottom 4 finishes.

You just can't see players like Neade winning a gf can you, that was a hard hard game. Players like Impey yes, Neade know, along with quite a few other players at Port. We need to start not playing those players in the minor round as of now... Yes you Lobbe for one.....

Neade plays well in the finals, look at his aggression vs Freo and Richmond in 2014

In 2013 we lost Pearce and Rodan who were arguably our 2 best play makers at the time and we injected Wines Hombsch Neade Mitchell Stevenson Heath . Not all of those players were superstars but it gave our team new energy with the new faces. If we can

Trade Hartlett > pick 6-12
Trade Lobbe > Pick 20-30
Pick 6-12 >a classy mid with good skills
Pick 9 > Marshall
Pick 20-30 > Motlop
Pick 45 Witts
O'Shea > Aaron Black
DFA Vardy

That would give us -

* a classy mid to start round 1 in Amons spot

* Motlop on the wing as a skillful player who can play in the middle and has kicked over 30 goals the past 4 years

* Witts as a backup to Ryder, at 208cm he could develop into a dominant ruckman in his late 20s

* Black to play as our 3rd forward near Dixon until Marshall develops

* Vardy as a backup to Dixon if he goes down, he also becomes our SANFL ruck backup to Witts

* Marshall to become our next superstar forward, he reminds me of a skinny Jeremy Cameron and I will be devastated if we miss out on him

These changes will have instant impacts on our starting lineup next year and I wouldn't hesitate to trading players with history of spudding it up against top opposition such as Broadbent, Ebert.

Did the game being in Melbourne stop Sydney fans going? No
When we played Brisbane 12 years ago did it stop the two interstate clubs fans going? No
The fact it's in Melbourne is irrelevant. It's a grand final and both clubs regardless of where they are based are given the same ticket allocations and opportunities.

The MCG is our biggest stadium and rightly so hosts the Grand Final.

In the last 27 years since 1990, 11 flags have gone to non Victorian clubs and interstate clubs have been involved in 6 other grand finals. Interstate clubs have been there on that last day more than they haven't.

South Australians need to get over the whole kick a vic thing. It's the year 2016 and Victoria and Melbourne have long ago left South Australia and Adelaide behind. There is no rivalry anymore because we aren't even on their level. It's so embarrassing and pathetic.

Tell us though, I'd the Grand final was in Adelaide between Port and Hawthorn, how would ticket allocations go? How many thousands would miss out? You obviously haven't thought about that though.
And I guarantee you the biggest sooking and whinging would come from right here in Adelaide. And South Australians would be blaming the AFL and accusing them of bias to pack in as many Victorians as possible.

Because it won't change until 2037 thanks to the 40 year deal signed in 1992 and then 5 year extension when Eddie helped negotiate the no PF home game at the MCG if 2 non Vic teams won the QF. It's like complaining about rainy days for the next 21 years. The ground played no part in Sydney not starting well - like they did in the PF at the G and hanging on against the cats. The Doggies were always going to finish with more run. That had nothing to do with being at the G. They did that at Subi and Spotless.
