Depends on what we get out of the trade. If GC take #13 + Lyons for #8 and we end up with that Pick, we would most likely end up with Scrimshaw.

Based on what I've seen from him and I believe Bolts has strong ability to bring out the best in players, I think he'll be a gun at AFL level and I'd much rather have him at 24 than Bryce at 34.

I know you love Bryce Gibbs but surely you don't think his form is not going to drop when he gets to his mid 30's?

To be fair to Adelaide, its pretty difficult for them to stump up another first round pick without giving away a required player.

In all honesty,.things would go much more swimmingly if GWS got involved, but they are being annoyingly obstinate.

I'm actually glad GWS hasn't got involved, and I wouldn't be surprised if GWS and SOS had that conversation and SOS told them that he would prefer for them to not get involved. It puts more pressure on Adelaide to actually cough up more if they really do want Gibbs. The Crows list manager has sold the Gibbs dream to all the Crows people vía his comments on Monday, and the pressure is on them now to get this deal done. Make them sweat.

I agree. Fair chance is Gibbs had not been suspended and injured last season he probably would have another B & F.
Doch has been brilliant but we know the half backers are not as pivotal to overall team success. You gotta have at least 4 or 5 elite mids to really start to have any hope of being a contender. When guys like Doch and Simmo are 6th and 7th best on our list , it is then we will be a contender.

Anyone would think they just beat the swans in the gf with the youngest side in the top 8, not the team who missed top 4 with the best injury run in the competition and a career best year from a Carlton maestro.

I also love the arbitrary measures of player quality the crowies always use, like they will always point out players who haven't made a top 10 bnf or AA selection as if that means that they are no good, but ol'mate Jaryd Lyons we should all bow down to, even though he's never polled top 10 bnf or made AA...

They honestly think playing 22 games in a season for the crows is an honour that surpasses polling in other clubs bnf.

Unfortunately, given how far back we're coming from, I'm not sure if we can settle for fair.

Maybe that will happen but we have a player who is underappreciated and IS a gun already and we seem to be happy to trade him for an unknown as long as we get a high draft pick.

Even supposed young gun mids can be over-rated --- as an example in 2016 Gibbs averaged 26.8 disposals. Heeney averaged 16.6 and everybody's poster boy Bontempelli averaged 24.3. I know disposals aren't the total picture but I believe we seriously underestimate the value of Gibbs in our team.

Agree Bryce Gibbs intrinsic value is much higher than most posters are willing to accept and merit.
If we must loose Gibbs for just fair compensation we'll be starring at bottom three for the next 2 to 3 seasons.
We need a favorable trade for Gibbs to help in the rebuild and reduced the impact of his departure. Hope Silvagni and Baggers have nerves of steel and some very good luck.
