oscar someone - that's all I know..........
If they are all footballers, it could actually work well. Older brother smashes the younger ones for some time and gets the fire in their belly, meanwhile when they are in their teens, the two younger ones can return fire with numbers. End result, they are all the better for it!Got 2 younger twin brothers....even better than him.
Who's this young gun we're getting that'll be entering his prime when we are contending?

To be fair to Adelaide, its pretty difficult for them to stump up another first round pick without giving away a required player.
In all honesty,.things would go much more swimmingly if GWS got involved, but they are being annoyingly obstinate.

IF we decided to accept 13 and Lyons and IF GC decided to accept 13 and Lyons for 8 and IF we drafted a Scrimshaw/Taranto and IF they became close to as good a player as Bryce I'd definitely consider that. Bloody lot of IFs in that equation though.Depends on what we get out of the trade. If GC take #13 + Lyons for #8 and we end up with that Pick, we would most likely end up with Scrimshaw.
Based on what I've seen from him and I believe Bolts has strong ability to bring out the best in players, I think he'll be a gun at AFL level and I'd much rather have him at 24 than Bryce at 34.
I know you love Bryce Gibbs but surely you don't think his form is not going to drop when he gets to his mid 30's?
Surely by then we can just extract some DNA and draft COSOS.SOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOS
I'm actually glad GWS hasn't got involved, and I wouldn't be surprised if GWS and SOS had that conversation and SOS told them that he would prefer for them to not get involved. It puts more pressure on Adelaide to actually cough up more if they really do want Gibbs. The Crows list manager has sold the Gibbs dream to all the Crows people vía his comments on Monday, and the pressure is on them now to get this deal done. Make them sweat. To be fair to Adelaide, its pretty difficult for them to stump up another first round pick without giving away a required player.

To be fair, Adelaide are trying to poach a bottom team's best senior player for relative peanuts. Not GWS, not anyone else... Adelaide.
They need to pay up or **** off.
Agree with general sentiment. Not sure Gibbs is our number one player but certainly in our best 3 on pure talent.
OK BF minus 1 IF then.Well you have 4 "IF's". We aren't going to accept #13 and Lyons, that is going straight to GC. So you added an extra IF for nothing (maybe you wanted to try and pump up your statement a bit more). Really you have 3 "IF's".
Count how many are in this equation:
IF we don't trade Bryce and IF he doesn't walk out after 3 years and IF he can play close to what he can now at 34 years of age, then we'd have done well to keep him.
Wow, same amount of unknown variables. But, there's another thing to consider now:
The chance of Bryce Gibbs playing better at age 34 than a top 8 prospect like Scrimshaw/Taranto at age 24 is not great.
Pure talent yes. But Doc won our B&F. We should respect him as currently our best player. Simmo and Cripps also ahead of Gibbs.
Goes to show you need more than just pure talent to be the best.
OK BF minus 1 IF then.
IF Bryce walks after the end of his contract and IF the AFL still has compo picks for FA we'd get around a second rounder. OK return on a very good mid coming to the end of his career. IF he stays for a further few years, that's good also. We know what we will get there.
On your last point, the chances of that pick 8 even becoming a player are touch and go, let alone becoming a player as good as Bryce even at age 34.
FWIW I'm all for trading Gibbs if it nets us overs, e.g. Two first rounders/pick 13 and a quality player. Pick 13 and Lyons? Not so much.
No cigar?....and we're not going to be AFC's ML.
Pick 8 would probably be a fair trade.I don't think there's too many on here that will be happy with #13 and Lyons, myself included. SOS has already shut the idea down anyway so I wouldn't worry about it happening.
If Adelaide can obtain pick #8, then I'd be more accepting of the trade.
Getting 2 first rounders, well maybe if they give us their 2017 1st as well as #13, but they're going to want our 2nd in return.
If we keep him and Bryce walks out after 3 years and we get a 2nd rounder I'm gonna be pissed off big time. What good is a 2nd rounder going to do for us when we could've got #8 or #13 and a quality young player? It's not like we're winning a flag in the next 3 years, it will just set us back.
And yes #8 will be along the lines of a 60/40 prospect but I'm backing SOS to make a good choice.

Quite a few posters in this thread seem to assume a gun mid will eventuate from a decent draft pick.
Maybe that will happen but we have a player who is underappreciated and IS a gun already and we seem to be happy to trade him for an unknown as long as we get a high draft pick.
Even supposed young gun mids can be over-rated --- as an example in 2016 Gibbs averaged 26.8 disposals. Heeney averaged 16.6 and everybody's poster boy Bontempelli averaged 24.3. I know disposals aren't the total picture but I believe we seriously underestimate the value of Gibbs in our team.

The 'crows people' are mostly of the consensus of preferring not to get him to overpaying for him so not sure of the pressure there.
