The only logical reason I can see for us keeping 2 roster spots free, is that they consider Keath and Greenwood to be filling those 2 spots and don't feel they need to have extra players above the usual 44.

Scharenberg is the interesting 1. This time last year he was touted as top 10, he makes the AA team in the carnival and no one wants him.

He's got size, his skills are good and he doesn't have a large injury history like his brother. Seems very odd.

If you said one of the players that actually were drafted after our picks (Junker, Hanrahan, Ronke etc), I'd agree with you.

Laird was considered too small which was wrong, Gov barely played any footy in his draft year. Neither of those can be a reason why Jonty missed.

So, one area we are thin on is ruck stocks. We could've grabbed one as a rookie to push Hunter but does anyone else think we are right into Grundy and might be saving space to offer him some decent coin to come back. The other thing is Collingwood did pick up another ruck. Do they think there's possibility of losing Grundy.

Thank god there's gonna be some football between now and next year when Fyfe's available. I'm not sure I could live through a thread about getting Fyfe, and how much of a failure the AFC will be for not being able to get him ahead of 17 other clubs.

Assuming the rookie list stays next year, we may be planning to delist and re-rookie depth players ala Kelly, Gore etc, while upgrading Greenwood. There is no point taking on an extra rookie and person on the main list just to discard them the next year, without ever giving them a real crack.

This would give us more space in the cap to make a big play for a quality free agent*, while bumping up Lever's contract.
