Why? IMO good player and fits a need of a ruck/forward but the cost would surely outweigh the value? He is 28 this year and given his injury record you would think he probably has another 3-4 years in him max? Unlike say Sandilands, his speed and mobility is a key part of his game, but that is the bit that goes the quickest with age.

If Darcy is our next permanent ruck then such a move would possibly eat into opportunities to develop him (look already at what happens with Griffin).

If bringing him in meant the difference between being a top four contender and being an also/and then yes do it but IMO he is not in himself propel us into that space.

You can do a lot worse than kruezer. We have griffin injury prone and sucks. Z clarke injury prone and sucks. Darcy is a rookie. Who else fills the void for a temporary fix when sandi goes ? I would take kruezer and if Carlton has the opinion he is 28 and injury prone then if we give him a decent offer (not over value) then carlton won't value him and get him for a bag of chips if he doesn't have much value

That's the thing ruckman developed enough to take a strong grab and provide a contest against quality opponents arnt easy to find. We have seen what grundy did to griffin and in all aspects of the game including second efforts and disposal of the footy. We will see Martin dominate griffin again this weekend in all aspects . Sandi is and will be extremely hard to replace. We need a quality replacement. Griffin,clarke,Darcy (developing ) arnt the answer

I think you lost the point here , a player like kruezer won't put a trigger clause if he don't plan to stay in Carlton. I don't know how much Carlton paid him now but I expect freo need at least 750k a season to get him . He is no 1 pick not a rookie pick come good.

750k not far off it. He prob will stay with blues but if sandilands retires the end of year He was on about 1 mil a year from memory then offering something like that could sway his decision a bit.

Kruezur is the wrong age group, I am not convinced he will be playing well in 3 plus years when we need him. I would rather through the money at Jj and play darcy.

But I don't think that we need Z Clarke to play every game from next season onwards.
To me there is an obvious plan to transition Sandi to a young ruck (Darcy probably) and we only need coverage for 1-2 years whist they develop. Sandi could well play next year and so if we get 14-16 games per year out of Z Clark I think it would be sufficient.

For me this means that at the end of the year the ruck department would be looking to sign Clarke for 2 years, draft a late pick or rookie ruck and either sign Sandi for another and delist Griff or if Sandi retires extend Griff for 1 year. Would not bother looking for a ruck anywhere other than at home.

Most of us think we should be going after a good halfback like JJ or Nathan Wilson but we will have to trade for either one, (in Wilson's case he isn't OOC) which would involve losing either our 2017 or 2018 1st rounder. I've been thinking recently that we should put an offer to Jasper Pittard. He is a very good half-back who happens to be an unrestricted free agent. He is Victorian and Port are in better shape than us atm but if we offered enough cash I think we could be a chance. Allows us to keep our 1st rounder if he came and we get the half-back we need

I don't think it'd cost much at all to get a depth ruckman that's much better than Griffin and/or Clarke tbh. Kreuzer is the best cheap option but I believe a read somewhere he has a clause in his contract similar to Mundy where if he meets certain criteria he gets another year automatically. I think I read he's very close to triggering it as well. It'd explain why both Carlton and Kreuzer seem to not care less about a new contract. There's another free agent from Carlton that may be worth a look though, especially if we miss out on McGovern. Now we need a decent back up ruckman preferably one who's a decent forward as well. Levi Casboult is a much improved player, has scored more goals than anyone on our list this year and would be n upgrade on Taberner for the cost of nothing but salary cap space. Same age as Stephen Hill and fills a big hole in our list. Is he worth a look? Personally he wouldn't be my first choice but I doubt we'll be able to do much better in the short term.

Zac Clarke to Rookie list IF he passes medical tests. Griffen goodbye. Apeness one year left on contract is a big year for him.

Sam Reid (Sydney) is 26yrs old on 27th Dec. I would have a look at him as a FA. He seems to play out of skin against Freo. One recent game at Freo played on-ball and dominated. Lloydy has had a crack at him recently but he looked good last night and earlier in season was in form.

Kreuzer too old and injury prone for mine. Tom Nicholls from Gold Coast seems out of favour. I've seen him play twice on channel 34 in the NEAFL and looked ok.

Zac Clarke's knee has been cooked long enough for him to have neuropathic pain - we won't be fixing it imo

I've studied a bit of sport science in the past, my partner is a physio and I've done some research into pain before, involved in private health funding

Why's that? Do you have some issues?
