Bottom line is the coach is four years into his tenure and we are seeing serious regression in all areas. In performance, ladder position, list management and player development. We can argue the minutia that he's got this current list playing at around about its ballpark optimal level but I disagree that he is anywhere near doing that. Besides, winter is coming and at least when we fall in a heap in the coming seasons a new coach will be given enough free air to negotiate what needs to be done. Simpson wont because he'll be rightfully identified as the architect.

Well, the Geelong game showed they can actually play.

Essondon bottom of the ladder last year has an easy run home . We cant win the next 5 games so we wont be playing finals. Simmo doesnt have any winning moves to choose from so will he send a message and just blood a few yoofs. 1 more loss and he definitely should.

I want a coach who plays the players that deserve a game based on form, not what they did 2+ years ago. It seems that a fair few of the players want this too.

Not really, that's what I said before, quite a few of the players think Partington deserves to be played on form and can't work out why he hasn't got a game over out of form players.

Think about it from their point of view

We are still in the hunt for a finals spot and therefore experience in the games matter so they wouldn't want to get rid of senior non-performing players. I.e. it is more likely that Priddis turns it around (even if just for a game) and plays a decent game than Partington coming in and having that same impact. You simply can't get that from a first gamer. He is bound to struggle for the first handful of games.

They will likely bring him once we have no chance of making finals...i.e. last couple of games.

while watching the crows few weeks back, the commentary mentioned that you really need 15/16 players to show improvement/be in form to contend.
That got me thinking, how many of our boys have shown improvement or is in form?
1. Mitchell - in form but has declined
2. Lecras- declined
3. Gaff- declined
4. Sheed - significant improved
5. Shepard in form but hasn't improved.
6. Yeo - serious improvement
7. Masten serious declined
8 Redden slight improvement of late
9 Naitanui- injured
11 Priddis - serious decline
12 Wellingham - serious decline
13 shuey - early season improvement but has declined last 2 months
14 Duggan - slight improvement
15 Cripps- declined
16. Mackenzie - slight improvement
17 .Jk - in form and minor improvement?
19 Vardy - slight improvement
20 Mcgovern in form but has maintained his usual output
21 Petrie - maintained his usual out put of late
22 declined
23 jetta slight improvement
25 Hurn declined
26 declined
27 Darling probably maintained his usual out put, which is more than satisfactory.
28 Cole- not enough games to gage his performances

That a very sad reading with only 2 players to have seriously improved and only 4 senior players to have maintained their high output.

This is partly blamed on the playing group but a lot of the blame has to go back to the coaching group.

Mitchell didn't play this week and we were still the oldest team in the league.

Cheers, the hardest thing was trying to take into account all the redrafted players we've had and only counting them once .
I agree, unless we absolutely nail every single draft pick in the next couple of years we're going to fall off a cliff big time.

I heard Simpson said that he is going to interrogate the players about the last quarter fade outs to find out whether it's fitness or attitude etc.

What a joke. Is this guy taking the piss? Does he have such a shocking lack of self awareness that he cannot see that his comments are a damning indictment of his own coaching ability?

After five or six last quarter fade outs, how can he NOT KNOW whether or not it is a fitness issue, an attitude issue, complacency or whatever? Surely after the second fade out, he should have been demanding answers!

And if it's not fitness, but it's complacency, why the **** couldn't he see that weeks ago? He's the freaking coach!

Again, if it's a deliberate tactic to slow the game down and go defensive in the last quarter, well that has failed miserably. If this is a contributing factor, whose decision was it? Simpson? The players?

I was convinced weeks ago that there is something seriously wrong with Simpson as a coach. My opinion is that Simpson should go at the end of the year.

Hire Peter Sumich with Nathan Buckley as assistant. I know Bucks had made some not so great calls, but my strong feeling is that he is a smart coach with really good intuition for football. I'm keen to hear opinions from others here on who should be the assistant if we do go with Sumich.

Have a thorough top to bottom club inquiry over the offseason, with particular attention to the abysmal recruiting. Hire the best recruiters in the land. Rawlings seems to have done ok so keep him. Also look at our conditioning coaches.

Stop being so soft on the players. Get them out of their comfort zone.
