There's definitely something wrong within the coaching group when it comes to communication and energy. I've said it in previous posts, but guys like Justin Longmuir, who should seem up and about and full of motivational energy (given he's the senior assistant coach), comes across as unapproachable and distant. Watch him at training...and on game days. Hands in his pockets, frown, head down, just doesn't look happy to be there. Not proactive in the slightest. Doesn't greet the boys with a smile or a pat on the back, just stands back. Even after a win.

And he's not the only one.

Sorry got to strongly disagree there.
The players love Longmuir, hes a good communicator, and is the most popular of the assistants there.
He is also highly rated as a assistant across the league
Daniel Pratt I dont rate at all, and Jamie Graham is very quite as a assistant.
Hickmont's not bad and Coxy's not afraid to have his say.
Of the development coaches we have one very very good one and several poor ones.
Gavin Bell is very highly rated and had other clubs try to pinch him last few years, but is
very settled in perth and doesn't want to move.

Over all its probably the most inexperienced coaching group in the league

If he's a good communicator, it doesn't appear that way. He doesn't seem to be tight with the players at all. His appointment as senior assistant earlier this year has coincided with one of our most inconsistent and frustrating seasons on record.

How is he rated highly as an assistant across the league? What has he achieved? Genuinely interested.

I have no idea how our coaches perform, their work style , skills as coaches and relationships with players.

Evidently many others do.

From the outside I can only rely on bias and gut feel, thus I don't have much to say about coaches. I do see what players do - and they haven't been true to themselves this year.

We seem to lack on-field leadership, desperation to compete every minute, and smart players. So lets sack the coaches????

Do you think the players came up with the corralling part of the game plan themselves? Also I would say that part of the players not being desparate to compete also falls on the coaches, partly through a lack of ability to motivate them and partly through the players they put out on the field.

Who are the poor ones and very good one?

Geelong game - did the plays come up with the idea to tackle?

Its a circular argument and one I am not a part of

I like how Hickmont physically gets right into training drills and participates. He seems to also challenge the blokes and compete with them in between their stations+after training

Surely you cant be serious?? Name a player he's developed that has actually done anything at our club? I know people who have worked with him and they havent given good reports. Considering most of our players seem to go backwards after being drafted or traded in I'd say he's the problem.

What if Mitchell and Priddis have a golden run of games together over the next 4 or 5 weeks and lead the team to a premiership, does that save Simpson?

Considering He used to be the forwards coach, JK didn't do too bad whilst under his watch. In fact I would say the whole forward line (with the exception of JK of course) have gone backwards since He was promoted to Assistant coach so surely this falls on Graham's shoulders?

Compared to Elliot they are! Dumbest kid at Aquinas......
To be a good footballer you don't have to be a brain surgeon. As long as you have a football brain is all that matters. From what I've heard Jako wasn't too bright at school but he was a damn good footballer, particularly at CHB when he was in the prime of his career pre-knee ACL.

So, if you had a football brain you wouldn't be celebrating a goal until you were sure? eg. Ballas, Yeo...
Elliott plays better at half back when the game is in front of him and can concentrate on only two things at the one time. Would like to see him succeed in the midfield but I don't think he has the "smarts" or concentration to play there at a consistently high level. I do not doubt his ability or courage.
Jacko was a great footballer and is possibly 5 points up on him on the IQ chart.
Just my opinion ... cheers.

Yeo's lack of a football brain is unprecedented, but I'm sure our recruiting staff are busy finding us an even more athletic player with even less feel for the game.

Here's a challenge.

Who do you rate that plays for West Coast?

Id have to agree.

Yeo can play bursts through the middle against the oppositions second string - or he can play well as a defensive mid but he aint the midfield messiah unfortunately.

Still very keen to know how and who has rated Longmuir as the most popular assistant at WCE and where he's been rated so highly across the league?

Can anyone verify this?
