Geelong Vs. Richmond - the match of the ultimate underdog...

Richmond definitely have some mental cob-webs to blow out against the cats ... PTSD from Ablett Sr

Hoodoo aside, Geelong's tall match up well against us so a lot will fall into the performance of Rance and Astbury. Will be beyond glorious if we can pinch a win

Not at all - I don't fear Richmond - just pointing out that Richmond DID have a soft draw, so comparing our relative finishes is not valid. Had Richmond played our draw and we theirs, I am very confident we would have finished the season well clear on top, and Richmond would have struggled to make the 8. We are a better side on all lines.
We played first away.
2nd away.
4th twice, once away.
5th away.
So the top 4 teams, excluding us, away from home.

Buckley took over a team just off a flag and grand final appearance, dimma took over the wooden spooners.
C'mon man, Buckley's won a final tho.
Doesn't matter that he took over a team that was 20-2, while Dimma took over a team that got paid out for wooden spoon bets about 6 rounds into his first season.
And lost by 55, 93, 42, 80 the 4 games before he took over.
And 56, 72, 55, 55, 39, 108, 50 the first games he coached.

What difference does that make /s

Also don't even worry that in 6 seasons Buckey has never taken his team higher on the ladder than season before, best he has done was finish 12th once season then 12th the next year.

The last time Richmond defeated Geelong was in 2006.

The last time Richmond defeated Geelong at the MCG was round 12 1999.

Only a few weeks ago, Geelong without their FF and Captain. Still won!

Geelong is the only side Damien Hardwick has never defeated as coach.

The last time Richmond won a Final on September 8th was in 1928.

Geelong hold the greatest ever winning margin against Richmond during this time, when they defeated Richmond 222-65. The worst loss in Richmond's history.

The Tigers have won 1 of the last 21 against Geelong.

Richmond last won a final in 2001, and lastly, in 1995 when Richmond finished third and got the double chance, had their pants pulled down against...Geelong.

The statistics are quite ugly, it's the Ultimate Powerhouse Vs. The Ultimate Underdogs.

As a Richmond supporter, the odds are so stacked against us, we're a knife in a gunfight. But I'll be there, just because ...

Tigers slipped through off of a dream fixture, they've beaten nobody, you think they're gonna beat 3 of the top teams in a row? LOL some people.

Hmm you talking about nobodies like Gws, Ess, WCE, PA.
Last time i looked they are all playing finals but hey if you think they are nobodies good onya. All i can say is they are good enough to make the 8.
Also pushed Sydney to the limit and if you think you had it easy against us once again good onya.

I think your post smacks of ill informed arrogance if not stupidity. If you want to disrespect those sides that made finals good for you. I dare say somewhere along the line theres some humble pie coming your way.

Cats rushing players in....
Like who? Selwood and Cockatoo won't play if not ready and it's no big deal anyhow considering we know we can handle Richmond without them anyhow (and Duncan, Hawkins and Blicavs. Good luck.

Richmond unfairly get to play this game on their home ground so it's basically theirs to lose.
Not really. Is how it's always been. Only reason it wasn't in 2013 was a freak amount of Melbourne finals and AFL pissed at Freo for tanking last round.

MCG fine by us and where the game should be.

Explain to me how it's unfair? If we had earned a home final and it was against Collingwood or some other MCG tenant then there wouldn't be a home ground advantage for us? You would never hear complaints about that either; in fact you would probably consider them lucky to play a final at their home ground even though they didn't earn it. Home ground advantages over teams are a bonus and nothing more and as it turns out, that advantage isn't present in this fixture for Geelong.

Don't even try and give me the whole "but it's not Geelong's home ground" crap either. The rules state they earned a home state final and that is what they are getting. Other Victorian based teams have had their final moved the G and in my eyes Geelong is being treated exactly the same, which is to say that this ruling on the venue is not unfair to them at all. If that's a problem then they should be fighting the rule itself and not it's application.

There is no easy draw in a season like this which has been so even.

Getting Carlton and Brisbane twice was a massive leg up considering how the top 8 ended up... you can't deny that.

BTW 3 of our top 5 out, you couldn't beat us.. venue was an excuse, at least for your coach..

Think his mostly talking about their double up games.
Brisbane 18th
Carlton 16th
Freo 14th
St Kilda 11th
GWS 4th

Edit- fixed for accuracy
Oh, you mean our double-ups where we split the gates against Fremantle, St Kilda and GWS anyway? If we beat Fremantle and St Kilda twice and finished 3rd place on 15-7 , then one could call our double-ups a factor in getting to the top 4 (Port went 6-0 against non-top 8 sides) but we didn't.

The fact is that we played Adelaide (AO), Geelong (SS) and Port (AO) away from the top 6 sides. Sydney is the only one that we play exclusively at home and we lost that anyway. The only part missing from having "double-ups" against those sides is the "home" part.

Have you missed the entire point of this thread? A Richmond supporter is explaining how Geelong just don't lose to Richmond. You don't need to come in and brag, it's already been clearly stated. Every side has a bogey team and Richmonds bogey team has gotta be the worst of all.

26m shorter than the g mate.
If that doesnt influence structure im not sure what does

Quite right. Unquestionably the Tigers have earned their spot, as have the other 7 in the 8. The AFL does weight the draw, but like our tipping, they are not Nostradamus. Some lower ranked teams become more competitive, some higher ranked teams fall over. Hey my mob got Carlton twice and through our ineptitude and them being better than estimated we ended splitting the result.

No chance,Richmond fans have been through far worse,it's the oppos who are the downhill skiers.

Good teams win anywhere.
Hypothetically speaking, If you lose to the cats, beat the swans, and then lose to the crows, are you going to say Richmond lost, because of the ground dimensions?
