Quote from the article:

McGovern said he firmly believed the Adelaide Football Club was the best place for him to be.

“I love the playing group I’m playing with, but also the staff and everyone involved,” he said.

“The culture is fantastic here. It’s one of the best-run clubs that I can see and I’m glad to be a part of it.

“I’m pretty excited for the future ahead.”

Yet we will bring in more talent than you, and recruit better with our limited picks.

Maybe you should tell the OP off for not posting this on the Adelaide board.

I prefer Adelaide's recruitment. We generally prefer our marquee players have working knees. We're crazy like that.

Plenty of other clubs supporters would be interested given all the journalism and reports of McGovern leaving to go to Perth and everywhere else so thought it was relevant to post here and update the relevant supporters for those other teams that the deal was done and he's staying a crow.

What would be an estimate on cost?
Absolutely no idea. Heard earlier in the week on the radio graham cornes and rucci confirming that the crows went to McGovern at the start of the year and he was offered between 350-370k a yr for 2 years. LOL.

Can't blame him for stalling and wanting more or other clubs getting interested at that price.

Fair to say it has since gone up. My guess would be 550k a yr ? Just a random guess.. which would still be a pretty good deal for us I reckon.

Remember it's only appropriate to talk about players who leave Adelaide. Anything else would upset all the precious snowflakes around here.

Right. I think you'll find the majority of the football world rates our recruiting and player development as equal to or better than any club. But thanks for playing.

It would be completely different if Carlton had just given Eddie the $50k he asked for.

Biggest mistake in 20 years.

Completely? Yeah nah.

Sloane pick 44, M Crouch pick 23, Dangerfield pick 10, Rory Atkins pick 81, Jake Lever pick 14, Mitch McGovern pick 43.
Rookie picks - Rory Laird rookie pick 5, Greenwood Rookie pick 48, Charlie Cameron rookie pick 7, Jake Kelly rookie pick 40, Alex Keath rookie pick 58, etc............

So Adelaide caved in and met the demand again. Who misses out next year? Or are they spending the Cameron money?
Adelaide let him walk and they cop it for losing another tall.

This isn't a signing you can put a negative spin on, unless your club missed out.

Say what you will about the Crows but their recruiting and development is tops.

Crows R&D is top notch. They have had some bad luck with player retention but meh that happens.

Certainly keeping him is big. While some trade talk is just crap by the manager, I have no doubt both WA clubs were leaning on him to come home.

Great signing by the crows. Fremantle punished yet again. Would be 1% lever stays now. Enjoy this now crows fans because in 5 weeks time you will be fuming when lever and Cameron leave.
