We got allocated standing tickets (only selected that as I was told by ticketek too) and we are taking 2 kids (9 and 12) can anyone tell me what it will really be like? Will they really struggle? thanks in advance

Go on the underneath level below level M. The entrance up to M level from underground is about 15 meters in front of the normal entrance to M level when you walk past the usher.

The closer entrance from underneath the ground on M level is usually not manned by an usher, and you might be able to hover around and sit on the steps. The best place to do this is one of the inconspicuous bays where there aren't many staff. In the AFL members, for example, this would be M27, where the southern stand joins the Ponsford. Should be able to sit on the steps there next to the fence with the Ponsford stand on your left.

If you're in the Southern stand, you could do the same thing with the Olympic sand on your right.

I think the 12 year old will be fine. You might struggle with the 9 year old - my 9 year old son likes having a bit of a go in standing room before complaining etc. Now what I have seen regularly happen at the GF is people swap seats on the day - I doubt you'd get four tickets but there's a chance someone will give up a seat in order to go into standing room (I'm one of those). Once you're inside, see if you can wrangle a deal so your 9 year old can sit down.

Don't get there early, it's not worth it.

You'll still be fine to see the game.

Forget taking kids in standing room though.

Really? From what I've been reading, I was going to get there from about 7am. We've got my 8 year old son with us too, obviously had to take these tickets as they're all we got. Why do you think don't bring kids there? I haven't got a choice.

Can anyone tell me if people in wheel chairs are allowed in the standing room area. I have two standing room tickets and want to bring my mate along

It probably changes from year to year and bay to bay, but last year the spot I was in we were packed in like sardines. I turned up about 11.30-12 and I was in the back corner of our bay. Fine for me as I was tall enough to see over the crowd but if you've got a kid I'd be turning up early

There are dedicated wheel chair areas in front of most of the standing room bays. Your mate will be right.

Full, every bay will be packed, just rock up a bit early, If your going with others it makes it easier, hold down the fort and do beer runs, time will fly
Advice for being on your own?

How many deep does the bay usually get on GF day?

What's been said, jsut make friends with some other Richmond supporters on the day. Believe me your all brothers and best friends on Saturday. You'll be fine. If your by yourself it will be easier just to slip in, so you won't have to get there too early. From past experiences I'd say 12:30 ish should get you a few rows from that front if that's what you want.

Thanks mate

Hi does any body want to swap a standing room ticket for seating with an "adjustment" I see people in seats will use standing and I have standing and need a seat.
Thanks

8 year old can't stand up for 8 hours. We rocked up after 2pm in 2008. Hawks bay they let me old man stand up the front. They will do the same for your son. If not move to any another bay.

Yeah the dedicated wheelchair spots may well be booked out.

Best bet is (here we go again) to get there early and scope it out. Most standing bays are stepped so not appropriate for you. There might be some spots around the wing where you might be okay.
Standing room isn't great at the best of times for short people or those in wheelchairs, but you should find something. At the very least try to find a spot where you can see a tv easily. Yes I know you have a tv at home but still definitely be worth being there for the atmosphere.

Thanks for all the advice people, was abrilliant day and I made friends and kept my spot!
