The most realistic hope we can have is a shift to defence or back to second ruck. I'd give up the tagging/defensive mid project (we have Scooter, and I've liked what he's shown more consistently) and especially floating around aimlessly on the wing. That frees up one spot for an outside player with skill - Guthrie, Parsons, Lang or Parfitt - more the type we need. If he stays (unlikely?), Motlop has more goal sense than these guys so half forward suits him.

Keeping on topic, Ablett and Danger should be burst players rotating between forward and on ball.

I hope not defence. We have 3 talls there already plus Gardner developing.
Maybe train him up in the VFL to replace Taylor if he's retiring at he end of next year.
Dunno about 2nd ruck either. Smith is able to nearly ruck a whole game now.
Danger and Gaz are both good forward. But a fully fit Gaz and Danger are also our best mids.

I agree with basically all of the above. But the game of "realistic Scott" is where on the field do you want Blicavs. Because he will be on the field. Think about it like choosing your favourite kind of flu.

Regarding Danger and Gaz, I just think we have more depth and quality in the midfield than up forward. We need a shake up down there. Without Ablett though, most of the time having Danger up forward is robbing Peter to pay Paul. And I also say rotating both of them to keep them fresh. Especially Ablett. Another solution is to have Duncan spend more time on the wings. Not sure either Selwood is effective anywhere but on ball so less room for a change there.

Unpopular opinion but I'd drop both Blitz and Menegola and play Gaz and Guthrie in the midfield.

C. Guthrie in the middle.

Guthrie's shown a clear inability to perform as a midfielder.. Why even bring this up as an option?

Menegola is flaky but has earned another opportunity as a mid in 2018 with some outstanding performances. Guthrie stunk it up as a midfielder the past 2 years, too timid and awful under pressure.

Kane Kornes on AFL Trade Radio reckons Gaz is too fat!

@kanecornes on Gary Ablett: "I think he's heavy. I think he's three or four kilos overweight."

Need Guthrie in his best position, half back flank. Touhy on one and Guthrie on the other.

Correct, I don't care he's a bit chunky, just thought it was obvious. I always put on weight when i holiday in the Gold Coast too.

They've got that all you can eat pancake place; I seriously carb load there

Gaz around and all of sudden we are where we were this season with guthrie not having a set role, and struggling as a result.

Back pocket or flank. We are too tall in defense and lack run from the backline..

Scott Clayton, list manager of the Suns, about to come on Trade Radio so they'll obviously ask him about Ablett/Saad so we'll see what he says.

If we get this bloke, should it be as a permanent forward? All the talk is about our crap forward line. This man could fix everything by kicking 100 each of the next 4 years. Too much?

Need more than Ablett in our forward line.
