You know the hoax was orchestrated by Trump fans on 4Chan, right? Don't go trying to give the left credit for this hilarity!

Couldn’t care less where it came from, Larry.

The amount of Trumpeteer’s who took the bait is what makes me laugh.

Don’t you have enough spot fires to put out to waste time attending to this one? Running out of water yet? :D

There’ll be plenty of water from their tears soon enough to fill the salt lakes.

Watching Larry and Palace "debate" on here is like watching my two younger brothers fight back in the 60s. :D
Carry on.

Who? You got poor Gavin and that's it.

Why's that? I guess some may cry as they get sick of winning!

I think you are underestimating the influence of Bannon. Trump is largely seen as a RINO from a New York ivory tower without Bannons ideas behind him.

Bannon wasn't horrible on economics or foreign policy actually. He was for protecting American jobs, government spending on infrastructure, taxing the rich, less military intervention etc.

Bannon however was terrible on social policy and immigration.

Trump will likely drift more towards neo cons like Mnuchin now, who are constantly pushing for more tax cuts for the rich, deregulation of wallstreet and cuts to programs helping the middle class and poor.

It's ok, we still have Alex Jones.
The guy who uses the cover of a talk show to sell junk to fools who will buy it and then pretends he needs to sell the junk to cover the expenses of his show. Yep thats a guy who is worth listening too. He doesnt suffer from conflict of interest at all.

Yeah, that was it, Larry, nobody else...

In between putting out spot fires talk us through why two Republican senators in Lindsay "The financial contributions will stop if tax reform fails" Graham and Charles E. "Goosy" Grassley officially requesting the Justice Department open a criminal investigation into Christopher Steele was a relief to you, Larry.

No Bannon is horrible on economics. Just because he cares about the lower classes doesnt mean he knows anything about economics. He doesnt understand the concept of comparitive advantage which clearly outlines why trade is a good thing that benefits both parties regardless of how competitive they are. Thus he advocates closed borders and protection of unskilled tradeable sectors against foreigners with cheaper labour costs. He also is a 17th century luddite who doesnt understand how the jobs market works and the impact technology has. He is an economic illiterate and its dangerous if people believe he knows a bit about economics.

You ever read Miami and The Siege of Chicago, are you old enough to remember the Democratic Convention?

Was one of them a gentleman and a scholar, who frequently embarrassed the other? [emoji14]

I reckon one of them told ridiculous fairy tales and painted silly scenarios on the walls with crayons. When tales and “artwork” were laughed at or ridiculed he would frequently mope next door to the neighbours house with his tail between his legs complaining that nobody would take him seriously.

Yes. And you're kinda like the other one, a redneck and a deplorable. ;)

Haven't read it. I was 16 at the time and was a McCarthy supporter. I watched the convention on our black and white TV. I wanted to go to Grant Park to demonstrate, but my dad wouldn't let me. Glad I listened to him. I was undecided as to whom to support, McCarthy or Kennedy, earlier in the campaign, but watched Kennedy's speech right after he won the California primary and decided to go for him. I went to bed before he was shot. That morning my dad woke me up when he was getting ready for work to tell me the bad news. After that, I had no choice but McCarthy. Living through the JFK, MLK and RFK assassinations and Watergate made my childhood/teen years/early 20s memorable. Unfortunately, so does living through these days. Hopefully "our long national nightmare is over" will be words I will once again hear in the not too distant future.

Yes, you are putting words in my mouth (obviously), but you are foremost spinning here. i.e. Pretending that the US is an "alien land", instead of a land most people are familiar with and largely speaks English while operating on (and aggressively promoting) Democratic values.

One of the main reasons Trump won was misinformation campaigns run on the Internet. We are currently on the Internet dealing with misinformation. It's relevant to the Democratic project universally.

That would only be "misleading" if the numbers were wrong or it pretended it started at zero. It explains what the numbers are and it doesn't claim to start at zero. Plus, the relevant numbers are there for all to see twice. So, no, it's not misleading. But you may think it's worthwhile to somehow downplay the difference?

So of the first post you are focusing on my choice of the word alien? Ok I will bite

First of all if I went there I would be considered an illegal alien, so turnabout ...

More seriously I find incomprehensible their
- gun culture
- distrust of central authority in favour of their states (often the smaller states who are also over represented by electoral college system/ gerrymander)
- turnout at political rallies (as in why on earth would you do it?)
- movement to teach creationism as a science
- lack of health care system safety net, the idea that health insurer interests need to be looked after to the extent that they are and the public there accept this as normal
- difficult process for voter registration accepted as normal

With regard to why I considered the graph you posted misleading, see nautil.us\issue\illusions\fivewaystoliewithcharts
Changing the axis magnifies the perception of difference, and the brain sees the visual difference before checking axes and labels. You might be cognitively perfect and don't see an issue, but many out there are not and will get tricked. Also note that I had no issue with the actual data as also presented later in the thread by 2 other posters using a graph which incorporated zero (being a relevant value when talking about job numbers).

May I ask what you seek out of this board then? Clearly you disagree with my view of light entertainment with a sampling of education/ viewing of others opinions.

Given he still hasn't filled most of the open positions in government, I think we can safely say he has no idea what he is doing rather than the applicant pool being too thin. At least part that and part special interests. Appointing a climate change denier as head of the EPA case in point.
Or both as in no one will work with him so can't fill positions.

What a dilemma at the start. Work with Trump and risk your future prospects or miss what could be your only opportunity.

Now it is easy. Nobody with credibility will work with him now, only those who would never be given a shot with any other administration anyway so nothing to lose.

It was reported that the Russians were shocked he won. They wanted to destabilise the political system. Imagine Hillary as President were have the nation were against her and she didn't hold Congress. Dead in the water.
Would have been 4 years of policy dead lock. Which may be better than the tax breaks that have got through though...
