Apparently Bernie Vince has been having an affair with Clayton Olivers mother.
Or that could be just a made up rumour to sew discontent within the Melbourne playing group.
Is that why they call him Pops?

As it stands after round 1 we receive pick 9 from Melbourne.

I hope this is the start of Melbourne self-destructing and a lot of finger pointing by Lever.

Even Charlie Cameron played well for Brisbane but all that Cash is effecting Lever's game
Geez we could’ve used Charlie’s pressure on Friday night. I think he could be a much bigger loss for our structure than first thought, and potentially a bigger loss than Lever. I reckon Eddie is suffering not having CC to work with.

I have been saying since the rumours about Cameron wanting to go to Brisbane started. He is a HUGE loss for this team. At the risk of bringing up the "non statistical" jokes back again, Charlie's impact on the side cannot be measured by stats alone. We don't have anyone that provides the sort of pressure he does, provides the break away leg speed that he does, and has the x factor that he does. As the season goes on people will realise just how big of a loss Charlie really is for us. We just don't have a replacement for him.

On a more relevant note for this thread, is it safe to say that Doedee had a better debut for us than Lever had for Melbourne?! :D

Maybe so but we also don't have anyone quite like Fogarty. In the long term its a win for us. There will be some short term pain of course but our coaches should be smart enough to mitigae this through different strutures and tactics.

Not arguing that at all. Just saying that for the short term, Charlie is a huge loss, bigger than majority of people thought he would be.

In terms of trade we have done quite well. Fogarty for Charlie is a pretty good get when its all said and done but you are right, there will be some short to medium term pain trying to cover Charlie's loss.

So on Footy Classified they said Scott had a plan to isolate Lever deep so he couldn’t play that intercept defender and he struggled.

Welcome to your new reality Jake.
Pretty much what the commentators said early in the game

Yep, that's what teams should do now. Melbourne really need to play Frost and allow lever to be completely unnacountable. Otherwise he is very average.

When can we get a coaching group that will try something like this instead of "well just back ourselves in to do what we do best"

I think it's a different philosophy that our coaching group has.

Predictability is seen as a massive positive as it allows for the team to work towards known paths and decisions by the players. In fact Ive heard various coaches and players mention b that they believe the more predictable to each other the better. I can see this point and when it works it's like a beautiful free flowing thing. But the flip side is we are equally as predictable to the opposition.
