A lot of North supporters shit can Clarke because of his disposal - the bloke is 21, was played oop and was more than likely low on confidence. More worried about ****ing up than creating.

He has real upside for Horse if he can get the best out of him.

So um, what is Clarke in terms of what sort of player is he? Also if you guys don't mind me asking what are his strengths and weaknesses? I am guessing he has plenty of the latter given his trade value but he looks like he is young so he might improve, or so I am hoping.

Running accumulator. Far from perfect skills, but a good young player.

Clarke has been moved on apparently due to his poor decision making/ disposal. No question he struggled with that, even handball was a problem. The question remains as to how McDonald (whose kicking problems are well documented) and MacMillan (who turned it over 10 times in the recent game against the Dogs and way too often in general) are immune. Neither of those two have anywhere near the tank of Clarke.

And then we pick up Pittard who according to those who know, also turns it over.

Anyhow, best of luck to Clarke - a hard worker.

We were getting Hall supposedly dirt cheap. Not sure how cashing in Ryan Clarke for an almost useable pick was required to pay for him.
If he is that good where were the other suitors when it was made abundently clear he was on the table?

Crickets.

He is a decent player but no one is going to pay much for a bloke who may or may not be able to improve his kicking to somewhere near AFL standard.

So he's very lowly regarded league-wide but we felt it critical to play him in our senior side for 19 games this year?

I think his biggest issue is he's not a contested player - he is an outside guy and those sorts need to be good users and make good decisions. He has time on his side given his age but how much of his shortcomings are trainable and how many are instinctive? How do you train a guy to make better decisions?

Either way good luck to him, people in here clearly rate him higher than I do.

The amount of games he played in 2018 isn't necessarily indicative of his value to the side from 2019 and beyond though, what with new additions, returning players (Jacobs, EVW) and internal development of younger players.

Being a midfielder his entire junior career might have something to do that. Not really ideal to expect immaculate decision making playing out of position and away from your strengths is it?

Anyway, not worth talking about now. Onwards and upwards.

He’s a pressure and momentum midfielder. Needs to be playing on the inside.
Unfortunately we’ve got a few players ahead of him.
Good luck Clarke, all the best for the future.

And in his position he is going to be behind the following players in 2019:

Cunnington
Higgins
Polec
Ahern
Dumont
Jacobs
Hall
Anderson
Tyson
LDU

Potentially McDonald, Simpkin and Walker spending time in outside mid roles too.

You can't keep everyone on a list. I like that we told him early he could look elsewhere, and got him there with minimal fuss.

I don't have a problem with him going. I have a problem with people writing him off based on bullshit and the fact we drafted him in the 30s and ditched him for peanuts.

Not my concern now though.

Love the way he go's about it and look forward to him smashing it for the swans. If he can iron out a few things could be an excellent player. Good luck mate.
