That would be pretty accurate I reckon.Dayne Beams mentioned on the "Good for footy" show last night that Collingwood current membership is 56,00 he didn't finish since ht thought the question was current not 2018 tally. So currently in that range.
Collingwood won’t get near Richmond in membership size.
Reasons
1. Way too many casuals support Collingwood when they’re winning, they come out the woodwork with some Kmart scarf from 2004 and Chris Tarrant guernsey from 2002...however, they’re not passionate, fall off the bandwagon easily and do not actually pour funds into the club.
2. In turn, Richmond have less casuals, but far more rabid, insane, diehards. These people have always been there, as evident from their attendance history when successful (first afl club to hit 1,000,000 through the turnstiles), and once the club was well managed again (an advantage Collingwood has always had over Richmond), these supporters have been gradually brought back and spent their money.
3. Essendon are far more likely to hit 100,000 members than Collingwood, their supporters are diehards, they spend their money, their growth is quite large and they will make ground to Richmond, but saying that, Richmond have 25,000 more members than Essendon now and Collingwood are scared to release their information.
You do realise that Collingwood is the most watched sporting club in Australia. We have drawn over 1 million spectators though the turnstiles 21 times compared to 15 times for Essendon and Richmond 6 times.
No offence Collingwood has the biggest growth out of all clubs. We are the biggest club on social media with over 672,000 followers. Essendon is next with 635,000!!!
I’m terms of diehard fans Collingwood have drawn over 1 million fans during the home and away season 9 times. Essendon have done it 6 times. Richmond only once yet Richmond have the most die hard fans lol! I just call it bandwagoners. We were s**t for 4 years and our base is 75,000. I pretty much say Collingwood has the most die hard fans then Essendon then Richmond. See how many people Richmond draw when they don’t make finals.
Watch pies finish bottom 4 for 5 years and watch their numbers drop

Nah, hawthorn and brissyNo one drops off more then Richmond fans. Biggest bandwagon club in the league.
In 1998 we finished 2nd last and still drew more people during the home and away season and Richmond finished 9th
Well said Madtiger! One bad year won’t hurt much at all. Several bad years will though. You have never experienced that. Collingwood supporters have had hope of making finals every year for the last 20 years right up until round 20 at the very least. Our season has been over by round 10 in half those years and also another 10 times for the 15 years before that. Your form has been miles better. We’ve finally had some success the last 5 years and surprise surprise we have passed the million. We have built confidence and hope for our supporters after the worst 35 year run in professional world sport. We are up to 1.2 mill now and aiming for 1.25 mill
The Collingwood v Richmond thing already going and its not even the end of december *sigh*
Take it to your club boards or start a thread in the bay.
Happy to take it to club boards but Richmond mods will ban any Collingwood supporter who does not agree that the tigers are the biggest and best sporting club in the world. They were banning everyone after they lost the prelim to the mighty pies!!! Very sensitive bunch at tigerland

Collingwood missed the finals from 1995-2001. Not sure were the one bad year comes from.
Did you finish bottom 4 all those years? You played in 2 grand finals not long before that period
Did you finish bottom 4 all those years? You played in 2 grand finals not long before that period
1998-2000 finished 15th, 16th and 15th! Drew over 1 million fans in 1998 and 2000
We got high 900k in 96 and missed finals. Close enough
But you finished 9th not bottom 4. 1996 Collingwood finished 11th and still drew more the. Richmond. Just swing the your argument is floored if you think rains Essendon have more die hard fans then Collingwood who you think are all mostly casual followers who only support the club when winning. 9 times Collingwood have missed finals and still drawn over 1 million people including 1998, 2000 and 2005 and the pies finished 14th, 15th abs and 15th. Not other club has drawn over 1 million people whiskey being bottom 4
Id imagine the Tigers should get at least the same as last year.
Predicting something like this for the top 6 by the time the AFL release all the figures late in the season:
Richmond 102,000
Collingwood 92,000
Essendon 88,000
West Coast 86,000
Hawthorn 82,000
Adelaide 70,000
