Should be a very exciting draft year this year. Jackson Mead and Trent Burgoyne available. Some good SA players again and what looks a pretty good 1st round.

If you’re looking at the list from a 5 year perspective, and if you think Lukousis will look at Port and say to his agent “get me to Alberton”, there’s really only one glaring need IMO for our first round pick, and that’s a key defender who is good one on one.

I believe Lukosius will be like pavlich... a 1 franchise player. Would throw the kitchen sink and everything else if there was a chance of him coming home.

That’s cool. He can be a 1 franchise player for two years and then come to a club.

I'd love to have a couple of the undrafted interstate kids on the magpies list. Especially NT (Mummery) and Tassie kids who don't have strong leagues to develop their footy. It would be great for pre-season and mid-season draft.

Depending on were Mead is likely to sit in the draft ranking (assuming he likely goes before our second rounder) we should (try) trade our first and second picks to more further up the draft order (top 5 maybe ?)

What's the chance of jackson growing to 195+cm and being our next big key forward?

It’s not unthinkable he has a growth spurt and gets above 190, isn’t that exactly what happened to Collier-Dawkins across the last 12 months.

In which case he’d likely be a big mid rather than key forward.

Our pick in the mid season draft adds a new and interesting dynamic. If we keep our list healthy it’s a chance at a 10 year prospect. Have an injury run or an unbalanced list and we will likely use the pick on a recycled player (had the rule been in place for the last 5 years we’d almost certainly have been forced into picking a ruckman each and every year).

On the off chance we find ourselves contending it’s a chance at a Stuart Dew 2008.

What position do you think he will be best suited to play once/if he becomes established in our AFL side?

Midfield swapping on a forward flank

And where do you see him landing in the draft order? The clubs said mid second round at the members convention - do you agree?

He probably fits in the early 20’s based on last year. Could move up though

Very excited about Jackson mead. He is very different to anyone on our list. As dual sided a player as I’ve ever seen. Want to see him either show he can win the inside ball or get on his bike and win lots of outside ball this year though. Last year was the secondary guy sitting outside contests a lot. May have just been his role but need to know that doesn’t work at afl level.

It will also be interesting to see our strategy regarding mead.

Ideally if we expect a bid to come around 22 (or wherever it could be different as players move up or down the order just using 22 as an example) It would be ideal if we could push our second rounder up before that bid.

Other teams have manipulated the system so I hope we take our chance. It would be better value to use those 4th rounders to pay for a second round f/s bid.

Then we would walk away with 3 high draft picks for the second year in a row and look for the late sliders again.

Trouble is finding a team that would want to downgrade a pick to our second.

Gws could be a possible candidate if Tom green looks likely to attract a top bid they may look for extra points.

Otherwise just trading our second out for a 2020 draft pick. I expect there would be quite a few teams interested.
