We even did the same with Logan Evans in the mid-season draft. They took him out of the SANFL side for 3 weeks to hide him.

Not sure this is true. From what I had seen Evans was pretty well backed even when he was looking shocking in the twos. He was one of the guys everyone wanted to see under a new coach, and people kinda let last year slide as second year blues. I think there is no doubt we expected more this year but I don't think anyone was writing him off as a miss yet.

No jokes aside we are doing absolutely the right thing with Dougie .

The goal is to bulletproof the tendon they’ve been working on and the timeframe for that is probably late August for him to be playing again if he chooses to play this year.

That may make him eligible for one of the under 18s games or SANFL finals.

I wouldn’t see the point though just move straight into the preseason

Good to see Port using thier brains.
Every other club in the league would be doing this with talent that may be hard to reach otherwise.
We would be stupid not to do it.
