I agree they've been s**t in Melbourne, there are no excuses for being lame, and everyone is right to be disappointed. They still haven't been as lame as Vegeta is as a fan.

Doubt it.on paper, surely this has to be the best kiwi side to tour here.
Remember the population of New Zealand before you pot them too hard...The bar must be set very, very low if this is the best...
Their 01-02 side broke even with one of the greatest Australian sides ever assembled (even with the Waughs at the tail end of their careers), then went onto bump Australia out of the Tri Series finals for the first time ever. Pretty underrated.
I still cannot believe we lost a series to them on home soil in mid 80's. The shame of it will never be removed totally.
Back then we did not have much bowling depth if Bruce Reid broke down and Craig McDemott had little help. Bowling sticks far healthier now. Cummins, Patto, Starc and Lyon.. good luck .. back then the third pacer was probably Dave Gilbert or Simon Davis...lol and the off spinner Greg Matthews... man, it was tough to live through. Our batting this era is about as poor as that era too
I'm being fair.to be fair 3 of our greats had just retired in g.chappell, lillee and marsh.
we also had just lost 18 players to the rebel tour of south africa.
a nz win was their for the taking for them.
Doubt it.
Richard Hadlee and Martin Crowe were genuine stars.
Cannot recall rest of their team around mid 80's but Kiwis do not have two players of that standing in the team now. Boult and Williamson are very good, but Boult is no Hadlee....
Yep, was about the best of their small nation I can recall. Edgar and Wright were a good opening outfit. Martin Crowe world class bat and Hadlee one of handful of best bowlers in Test cricket ever. John Bracewell as off spinner certainly more penetrating than Santner. Martin Snedden was one of those typicall annoying Kiwi seamers around that time too. The key was Hadlee as he was good enough to sometimes pull off upset win against much larger cricketing nations.Kiwis were a very settled team back then. I recall thinking their team rarely changed. They had Egar and Wright opening, Reid at 3, then M.Crowe, Coney and J.Crowe. Keeper was Ian Smith, pace attack was Hadlee, Cairns and Chatfield, and the spinner was a very aggressive John Bracewell. That team would have eaten their current team alive.
Williamson now averages:
30 in England
35 in India
21 in South Africa
42 in Australia (falling rapidly)
Warner averages:
26 in England
24 in India
63 in South Africa
For the amount of s**t Warner cops, Kane has to be put under the blowtorch now, especially if after Sydney he doesn’t average 40+ in any of the big 4 test nations.

Surely an early-mid 2000s NZ team would wipe the floor with them regardless of stats on paper.
What I would have given to see Bond and Boult opening the bowling for NZ...Richardson

Take out blow ins, Australia's would be about the same.Remember the population of New Zealand before you pot them too hard...
About 6 times the population of New Zealand...Take out blow ins, Australia's would be about the same.
