I am sure they exist but I pity those that have the time to waste running multiple accounts.

Yep - Paul said his nomination was accepted without a formal interview. Is the nominations committee still in existence? The same one that apparently decides who is eligible to run?
Apologies if this has been answered already.
I think he limits himself to professional groups which I suppose fits with his business profile. I do a fair bit of PR and marketing and am not an expert user of Twitter, Facebook etc. But doesn't mean I ignore them. I would be happy to see a non board annointed candidate get up but I also wonder how effective they can be. Might be worth the risk.Imma come straight out and say that someone who on one hands talks about "media" being a strong suit who doesn't have any social media activity, well, himmmmm.
Good on him for having a dip though.

Not sure how that works tbh. I asked him if he was interviewed by the culling bloke and he said no.Odd.
Aren't they going to count the votes?
As a 57 year old - and I am not saying that’s everyone in this age group - it’s a preference at a personal level, surely?
Sure. I'm not on Facebook either.
But I have been, and I know how it works, and you can't say you know how "media" works unless you have know social well.
As I said, he'd be a serviceable board member but I don't see what specialised experience or skill he brings.
Media is one area we have covered well anyway, with Laycock and Buckley. Presume that's why Brian Walsh's replacement wasn't a like for like.Imma come straight out and say that someone who on one hands talks about "media" being a strong suit who doesn't have any social media activity, well, himmmmm.

Would probably defeat the purpose of an election. You lost the member vote so we will put you on anyway. Not saying it couldn't happen, but wouldn't pass the pub test.Okay, hypothetical question.

If the members supported a majority vote of nominees Ben, Glenn & Paul, could the board just appoint Sonja (or anyone else) anyway? Limerick?
.......... but wouldn't pass the pub test.
An overpriced one at that if the cart at Arden St is a guide. The NMFC board's whims only requires the passing of the latte test.

Or offers coffee at $2 a latte for members.Hey, I'll vote for whoever states they will remove the ******* thing!
Given the spotlight that was shone on the 'process' last year I suspect there's a kernel of truth to this. I'm not sure how many candidatures were culled this time around but no doubt the club would have been alive to the potential criticism if nobody made it through the star chamber again.Tend to agree. And I don't often come on here and laud what Tef has said, but credit to him, I reckon he had Paul pegged pretty quickly. I have never witnessed someone use so many words to say virtually nothing. I can see why the board has let him run. They want to be seen as allowing outsiders to run but are probably quite content in the knowledge that this guy is not going get voted in. And even if he by some miracle does, he won't be a 'disruptive' force.

They'll now feel like they can point to Paul appearing on the ballot as proof that it's not a closed shop.
Okay, hypothetical question.

I asked the question to the independent nominations committee, that as the constitution can have up to 12 Board members, would they just consider an increase to 7 rather than having a vote. I was told that the Chairman will invite whoever he likes onto the Board, he doesn’t need a vote from members to decide that.
Not saying they didn’t say it but that is ridiculous.I asked the question to the independent nominations committee, that as the constitution can have up to 12 Board members, would they just consider an increase to 7 rather than having a vote. Indeed it is and it clearly reflects the concerns of many of the members of this Forum. One way to stop that approach is to get a member advocate on the Board.
Co location is still the preferred model, imo. It's actually potentially dangerous.
Hypothetical:
What if a pro-relocation board member lucked in to the chairman position? They could stack the numbers by personal choice.
