You are being evasive.

What is your analysis of the CFR adjusted for a normal aged population distribution?
I don't have any analysis for it, I don't think that what happened on the ship scales to country sized population. Almost all of those with positive tests were immediately provided with first class medical care.

It is the last reference for those who want to assert it is no big deal, now that South Korea and Germany no longer fit that framing. Strangely there are still 98 unresolved cases from the ship - which is a bit weird four weeks after they were all disembarked from the ship. What is going on there? Why are 15% of those who had this disease still sick (or dead) four weeks later?

Serious cases take six weeks or more to be resolved I believe

Seems to be more about a breach of quarantine for this vessel than anything else.

I wonder if a compromise can be reached - MUA get their workers to unload the vessel after 72s hours which is the maximum amount of time the virus can survive on metal surfaces, rather than their demands for 14 days.
If one worker gets the virus a whole port may be shut down.

Exactly how do the MUA think this virus is going to spread?
Do they even touch the shipping containers with their hands?

If we have to rely on socialist principles when capitalism fails, why don't we just stick to democratic socialism all the time? Anyone? Anyone at all? #auspol

This was the big sentiment after WW2 when 'Hero' Churchill was unceremoneously dumped for a Labour government
Yes most labor party activists struggle with we are all in this together bit.

Aren't they combined with the CFMEU now? Regardless, if the union entiity is right and quarantine procedures haven't been followed then they are well within their rights to wait. I realise it's a dud situation, as those supplies are needed, but in this case they might well be acting in accordance with the law.

I don't know if you remember but whilst I often defend the ABC, they had what must rate as the lowest moment in TV history, a few years ago they had Peter Singer on prime time TV not only defending but advocating for humans to have intimate relationships with animals. The studio audience were clearly stunned as was the TV audience.

You have to ask yourself how someone like that can hold a professorship? So that is where we have got to - had Singer questioned the holocaust numbers or clumsily made a racially insensitive remark he would have been abused and quite likely lost his university tenure but advocating bestiality is no problem.

The evidence of our cultural blind spots and stupidity is overwhelming. But in the present moment we always live in certitude of our cultural peccadillos
I didn't realise anyone took Peter Singer seriously

My brain keeps shifting gears - between feeling this is 'the new normal' for a while, and suddenly realising how ******* strange this situation is. I suspect I'm not the only one.
There is still little public discourse on what would signal an acceptable level of risk for starting to loosen social distancing restrictions.

Yes they are. So the entire union is called the CFMMEU. However, they maintain their name as the MUA being a branch of the CFMMEU, much like the construction and general division.

How long can COVID-19 live on surfaces again? 11 baggage handlers at Adelaide Airport have come down with it plus two family members.

...South Australia's deputy chief public health officer, Michael Cusack, said five baggage handlers were now confirmed positive cases, on top of six who were yesterday confirmed to have tested positive to COVID-19.

Another two family members of the baggage handlers have contracted the virus, Dr Cusack told a press conference this afternoon, bringing the total in the cluster to 13.

Coronavirus testing criteria in South Australia has been expanded to include anyone who has visited the Adelaide Airport terminal or car park in the past 14 days and has symptoms.

However, Dr Cusack said he was happy with the airport staying open...

How many bags were they in contact with? Maybe with the heavily restricted air travel the answer is 'not many' but it's a worry if you've been to Adelaide airport recently.

its ****ing shithouse lets be real. All of it. Find it so strange seeing people wear masks its like we’re in a war

WHO leadership not really inspiring much confidence at the moment. I understand this pandemic is unprecedented, but they seem to be floundering and looking incredibly incompetent every step of the way.

You could spray them.with Covid-19 and they will just keep telling you to "test, test, test and China is great".

Hilarious.

And the partners and families of the guy with high blood pressure (only a quarter of Aistralia) OR the pregnant woman; the diabetics; the under 1 yr olds, etc? Are they isolated too or separated from their families?

Unworkable. Impractical.

As if any govt is going to support splitting up nuclear families.
stumped at the first hurdle?

Wrong.

Although in your case:

It's interesting that a Russian journalist with his background is routinely accepted but for an American, oh my be careful it's propaganda. Think about that
Are you seriously suggesting there is any kind of equivalence. You have to make an effort to find these russian propagandists. The US ones are in you very DNA. You may not listen to the MSM but as sure you are of your gender identity, someone in your daily circle will pass on the narrative.

We can all make mistakes, I strongly suggest you delete this post so that you don't lose respect in yourself.

There's no way known China should be allowed to continue operating any "Institute of Virology" from this point on, or even operating any "Institute of <insert anything that is likely to cause a global disaster>".

I'm not suggesting they engineered this virus, or that this virus originated from their labs (even though there is strong reason to suspect that is the case). Just saying that after being responsible, to a significant degree, for quite literally bringing the world to a standstill, they have forfeited any right whatsoever to conduct research into anything with even a semblance of having the capacity to cause worldwide havoc.
