SA have opened up to everyone but Victoria & NSW. Just haven't been reciprocated which is strange given we have had no active cases or community infections for close to a month.

Plan to open up to NSW July 20 if they remain under control, which was also the plan with Victoria, which looks unlikely with the spike in community infections.
At least from the WA perspective I think they are operating under the advice its unconstitunal to give preference to one state regards the borders so its all or none.

Novel idea. Mel v ess. And any other fixtures which might be postponed.

keep them to the end of the home and away. If they are still relevant to the final 8, play them in what would have been the pre finals bye Of not relevant, flick them

better than a stupid wild card round

That's a good thing?

So we all remain shut impacting on business until Victoria get their COVID under control.

What a nonsense!

Yep, get the state up and running internally at 100% before even considering to open the border is the smart way to go.
No disagreements there with remaining shut until under control as sensible.

But when you are up & running, are you really going to open up all boarders to all juridictions at once, including Victoria who don't have COVID under control or wait til all have it under control... rather than opening up to jurisdictions with COVID under control like SA have.

That's a bit like Morrison making the decision to keep the boarders shut until the whole world has COVID under control... rather than the sensible option to start opening up to other countries like new Zealand who have it under control.

Risk versus reward. What financial benefit does WA get from opening it's border. SFA actually compared to what is at risk.

SA have been COVID free for the best part of a month. What risk?

Whereas Victoria have a significant community COVID problem.

You want to open up to both at the same time?

That's crazy!

Should Australia treat New Zealand the same as Brazil...

Of course there is a risk, we have no control over what your governments does, we could allow free travel between our states, next day SA opens it's border to NSW effectively opening our border to NSW.
And what about the reward? What is the financial benefit to WA for opening up the border with SA?

Two of the experts behind Australia’s COVID-19 strategy say Victoria should consider a hard lockdown of up to eight weeks or brace for continual outbreaks and last-minute changes to restrictions until a vaccine is created.

It is what it is I suppose. Just need to limit the damage to the percentage and at 2-2 there would still be time to salvage something from the season

Bad luck i guess

spare a thought for Essendon who have to play 2 games without some their best players at least Melbourne will be playing with a full sqaud.
Yes but your player broke the rules?
I feel for the fans but McKenna’s mistake shouldn’t come at Melbournes expense. we should be playing Essendon as our next game. If not then give us the points

Such a promising start to the season and now shot to ribbons .

The footy goods truly do hate Essendon
We beat two ordinary sides to start the season and are no legitimate chance of contesting for a flag so I’m a bit meh really.
With the NRL going nicely and the SANFL starting this week I won’t need to tune in to the AFL for the rest of this year now

A vaccine is still potentially months away.
