Not even close. No blood. No skin off. Apparently no blurred vision (otherwise he would have come off). :)

Not that I am defending Farmer - he usually toes a pretty fine line, but he well and truly crossed it with that effort. But there was no damage, therefore he might have got close to the eye, but obviously didn't get in it. You're saying the eye was damaged, when clearly it wasn't.

But even if it wasn't damaged, it certainly appears there was intent to grab the face and use force. Even if he gets off on some technicality (ie he grabbed the eyebrow area / forehead or there was no damage therefore he couldn;t have actually gouged the eye), I would not be disappointed to see the club give him a week or two in the WAFL to think about where the line is, and the extent of the damage he does to himself and his club when he has a brain snap like that - and also to have a little think about what might have been had he actually connected with the guys eyes.

Why would there be any damage? I've been poked in there eye before and apart from it hurting and watering, there wasn't any other damage around my face.

I would have thought if he missed the eye and got the eyebrow or forehead, there would be more signs of scratches etc.

jumping on the taxi is a bit of fun who cares what kerr does in his private life? there is no need for eye gougeing ever because sight is one thing you can never get back... farmer's way worse, potential for really bad damage... an aerial is worth about $50

What about if Kerr hit the Taxi driver in the eye with the aerial??

What if my Aunty had nuts??

I think, from what I saw on the news - and as I said I condemn the action - that what he did was that he grabbed and pushed, rather than gouged / poked. Either way it was stupid and unnecessary and deserves some sort of penalty - but Pratt didn't "have his eye ripped out of the socket". Not even "almost".

One thing I will say for Jeff is that he tends to grit his teeth and take a helluva lot - just as much from the umpires as from anyone else. Every week, he gets pushed in the back, tackled high, tackled without the ball - and it's play on. He tackles someone and it slips across the shoulder blades - not even across the top of the shoulders and it's a free. He'll retrieve the ball for the opposition player, run back to the mark, throw the ball back and it's 50m for not giving the ball back quick enough - even though he's the one who got the ball for him... He gets a front-on charge, no eyes on the ball, back to the play bump laid on him earlier in the game and it's play on. If that was Jeffrey doing it, he would've gone in the book. At the time of the incident, Pratt was down on his knees with his arms around Farmer. Now Farmer had a choice in trying to get Pratt to let go, get up and get on with the game, and he clearly made the wrong one by grabbing at his face - no doubt about that. But he actually, throughout the course of a game, shows a fair bit if restraint - but then he'll snap. That's what he needs to eliminate because (i) that is what the opposition team wants to put him off his game, (ii) the umpires will always remember, (iii) it causes Freo supporters enormous frustration and (iv) the opposition fans will heckle and abuse him for it. Just play the bloody game Jeff...

Completely different to what we are talking about.

Kerr actually caused damage, Farmer didn't.
actually no its the same principle. Farmer tried to eye gouge a player. Attempting to eye gouge whether the end result was successful or not is still worse than the taxi jumping incident.

are you really that stupid ?

jumping on a taxi is a bit of fun ? For who ? Not the owner of the taxi.Who has to have the car off the road while repairs are done.

After the aerial was broken , it was allegedly used as a weapon against the taxi driver.According to a police officer, the aerial got the taxi driver in the nose.Very close to his eye.
big_steven , What would happen to your eye if the aerial was poked in to it ?

sight is one thing you can never get back. sound familiar.

2 stupid acts , by 2 stupid imbeciles.

Ben Cousins got more bad media for falling asleep drunk in public(not such a big problem) than Kerr did for an act of violence.

Farmer is pure scum. Should get 8

As is getting pissed and stoned out of your brain and attacking an innocent person and vandalising his workplace.

You tell me the difference!

If every bloke was put on the front page for d&d every saturday we'd run out of trees before easter.

Gouging is the lowest of the low!

If every AFL player made the front page for being an idiot, we would need a seperate paper for them.

The fact is that they dont.

Just like society, only a small percentage of them are idiots, thankfully.

Eye gouging a player is a despicable act, no doubt about it.

But it is no less despicable than attacking an innocent man trying to earn an honest quid, who had no idea what he was in for.

Especially after you have vandalised his work place and attempted to maim him with a vandalised part of his Taxi.

Now you go away and think about that for a while and get back to me.

So is wiping your blood on another player, yet that particular filthbag is held up as an icon to the game. Go figure.

Besides if you read what I wrote... IMO he wasn't going for the eye specifically - even Farmer isn't that unintelligent. And no-one here can state categorically that he was aiming for the eye as that would be just speculation and opinion on their part as well.

But he was grabbing at the face - that much is evident - in a moment of total brainlessness, and that was unbelieveably stupid and completely unnecessary.

He deserved the 4 weeks for a total brain snap that could have caused serious injury. He (and the club for that matter) should have shut up, taken the 4 weeks, and considered himself very, very lucky.

Mate i reckon Farmer is a great player but he has been up 14 times and this time for eye gouging, please don't even use him in the same breath as Bucks.

Bucks did one of the worst things on a footy field, wiping blood on someone is extremyl dangerous and is a very bad case of assault.
