Over the last 20 years there have been many many questionable decisions

O'Connor after one game out and Hamill out while Mackay stays is by far the least rational decision we've ever made.

It's not even tanking because there will be no difference in terms of winning. It's just pissing time away

Figure some people have some high rage KPIs around here.

Fixing the bookend issues were, and are, priority number 1. By getting a second KPD and removing both Frampton and Himmelberg we have taken a giant leap forward. Okay Hamill out instead of Dmac sucks but that's not going to be the difference and Hamill is not going to fall in a heap by not playing this week.

Relax.

And that is the exact point of why you should be furious about this selection. It's not going to be the difference. We're not going to be more competitive keeping Dmac in. He doesn't offer leadership or experience because he's not good enough to offer it, and he's fighting for his spot/career. If anything we've actually gone backwards here because Hamill is at least a capable defender in our best 22 whereas Mackay is... well, just there. It also gets worse because if Billy isn't a sub, it means we're sacrificing a kid there which is just dumb when you have a player like Mackay fit, and available to be the sub.

We're just wasting our time with this, and you can't afford to waste time in a rebuild on veteran journeymen.

honestly didnt think we would somehow name an even shorter side
Better balanced though.

Taller defence where were way too short & forward line improved too.

Only 1 change which absolutely mystifying.

Complete overreaction. Life isn't a bloody video game.

Like I, and others with sense, have pointed out we have addressed some major issues.

Hamill could have been omitted for any number of reasons and people are just focussed on a Hamill v Mackay issue which likely doesn't exist.

Im tired of Matty Nicks. He is not the right person to rebuild this team. I hope Olsen doesn't plan on tolerating his bullshit much longer. I'll be livid if this campaigner gets an extension.

It's worth noting most of the battle here for a coach is just generating buy-in at the moment, seeing there is going to be a lot of losing whilst everyone develops. There haven't been any genuine warning signs that is wavering with Nicks. It's kind of the opposite really, as Chayce Jones is really the indicator that Nicks is quite likely the right person, at the moment, for this part of the build. After all, he's found a way to get Jones to kick out that career death spiral he had found himself in during last year and the start of this year (noting we're not that far removed from his 5 disposal game as a midfielder against Woodville) and even got a pretty solid game at AFL level out of him. Whether he continues on or not is yet to be determined, but he looked finished a month ago as a footballer.

There are certainly red flags though that he'll get the McCarthy treatment once we're decently built up, but that's likely 3ish years away. He does like to shoot himself in the foot, repeatedly, which he really needs to get out of his system in the next year or so if he wants to avoid that fate. He's on track for an extension though, as much as we really shouldn't even be considering it until late next year.

A post made at 3:01pm on 1970's Thursday Night MacKay melt thread.

"Came for the melts, glad I'm not disappointed"

"He isn't the difference between winning and losing"

Herp derp.

Congratulations, you have won a David MacKay player badge.

Welp apart from Dmac I thought we improved at selection under nicks. Today we went backwards two years. Played McHenry and Jones all last year who spudded it up and drop O’Connor when he did well for his game time.

We can’t even tank properly, play youth
