List Mgmt. 2021 Trade Targets

Parker and Guthrie are both massive guns worth throwing cash at

Dawson is such a beautiful kick. First round and cash.

Hewitt is the most likely and snd best 22.

Dumont would be a good sanfl player.

If we were a team that was finishing 5th-10th over the past two years and not pushing for a flag, getting Billings would be a stupid move. But we're not. And at the moment there are no players we have on our list that I'd be willing to offer big money to over the next couple of years to roll over cap savings that we have, because in the next couple of years we'll be losing guys like Gray, Hartlett and Motlop anyway and replacing them with kids who are on fixed contracts.

We're at the precipice of being a perennial top four team, based on the strength of our list which has been tested this year and has proven to be one of the most consistent in the competition. Now we're at the point where we are trying to extract 1% gains in performance.

I'll go back to Ford vs Ferrari:

Lee Iacocca: "James Bond does not drive a Ford, sir."

Henry Ford II: "That's because he's a degenerate."

Leo Beebe: "Lee, in the last three years you and your "marketing team" have presided over the worst sales slump in US history. Why exactly should Mr. Ford listen to you?"

Lee Iacocca: "Because we've been thinking wrong. Ferrari...now they have won four out of the last five Le Mans. We need to think like Ferrari."

Leo Beebe: "Ferrari makes fewer cars in a year than we do in a day. We spend more on toilet paper than they do on their entire output. You want us to think like them?"

Lee Iacocca: "Enzo Ferrari will go down in history as the greatest car manufacturer of all time. Why? Is it because he built the most cars? No, it's because of what his cars mean. Victory. Ferrari wins at Le Mans and people...they want some of that victory. Now what if the Ford badge meant victory?"

Port Adelaide used to mean victory. That's what the slogan 'We exist to win premierships' was all about. I'm all for getting players that will improve our team on the field, and if that means we bring in Billings and still have the draft capital to target other players who can do likewise...then we are thinking like Ferrari. Or Shelby American.

Nah **** trading in middle of the road players.

Having seen all our young kids why would we want to relegate them to the sanfl or to low game time?

The only thing I’m interested in is elite young players (of which none will be available)

Or young promising key defenders as ours have been less than convincing at times and are old.

Because Grange and West Lakes are next to each other and Grange and Port/Alberton are miles away :drunk:

He'd probably be a bit of an upgrade for Burton (more due to durability than anything), but yeah the cost of him would be crazy. It should be fun watching them celebrate if they land him, given how they were all "happy" to give up guys like Lever and Keath when they got big money offers while playing similar roles.

Of the two GC SA boys Rankine would seem the more logical target for us, especially if Robbie finishes up next year.

Would rather redirect our free agency war chest to add financial incentives to Ken's upcoming extension. After 10 seasons, it's time for him to have some skin in the game.

What about we get Billings for free, and then if he is crap and not useful we trade him for a second rounder.

What if we just get Ian callinan and then trade him for a first rounder of he's no good

Im not too fussed on Luko either way but this shit always blows up in their faces lol.

Adelaide Crows to put ‘unbeatable’ offer to Geelong free-agent Steven Motlop on Monday

Fantasia has yet to announce his intentions but the Crows are ready to swoop.

Getting Billings as a FA on 4 years @ $600k pa would be a very good deal for us.

Robbie has max 1 year left in him, and probably not a full one at that, and getting Billings just means we won't have a hole to fill with no Robbie. He's not completely like-for-like but it would mean that we wouldn't have to rob Peter by requiring Butters or Rozee to spend more time up forward in Robbie's absence.

Billings is a wing hff. I don’t think he replaces what we are losing with grays forward creativity, or grays ability to go on ball and win clearances.

Billings is closer to a motlop replacement. But we’ve just discovered that Bergman is a 200+ gamer in the midfield. And have rozee and butters in the same position.

Ladhams Dixon Georgiades

Fantasia Marshall rozee / butters

Amon wines Bergman

Lycett drew boak

That’s our starting lineup and there’s already a high level player in butters or rozee that doesn’t fit into it.. and duursma as well.

And then there is gray spp Farrell Houston bonner motlop. Several of those players are high quality first 22 players who don’t even make our bench if all fit. And we haven’t even gotten to young players like mead taj and williams yet lol.

Sure we need depth for injuries but not so much depth we would have to forgo playing the developing kids in their correct positions.

The hff wing is our teams most stacked position.

A more natural crumbing small forward would be more pressing as Fantasia is the most pure one we have on our list. Gray and Williams are the only 2 players I consider medium goalkicking natural forwards. Billings isn’t either of those things.

Much rather we focus our attention on key defenders or elite young talent, even if that means waiting a year.

Luko will be coming home. If he's flagging his intention of coming home at the end of next year, then GC would probably be smart to trade him to Adelaide this year and ensure they get something good for him.

wonder how silly the crwos would go trading for him this year. in desperate need of a good news story... pic 2 for him? or 4 if they beat north

The Crows have indicated that they want to go to the draft this year and try and get Luko/Rankine back next year.

It would be hilarious if they actually take that approach and we cut their lunch this year.

happily throw up our first from this year and second from next. and Hartlett as for some reason they want him
