Fair point, but Geary can't be compared to Jones. I'd compare Jones more to a Jack Steven (if he hadn't left St Kilda) rather than a Geary.
If it was up to me, I'd have Jones in the team. I understand why others wouldn't. He deserves it after all the sh*t he's copped over the years.

Absolutely he does.

If the Jack Steven of 2019/20 was on our list next year, and we made the GF, would you play him ahead of a Bytel or Byrnes after they have earned that spot?

Is it worth potentially damaging that relationship long term for the sake of 1 player's success?

There's not a player in Melbourne's team who deserves to be dropped. The closest is Bowey but he is playing as a small defender. Michael Hibberd or Jayden Hunt would be the replacement.

Melbourne are doing the right thing, 100%, in playing who they believe will win them the flag.

That is how you build a successful culture and environment.

Ah crap that was supposed to be a quoted post. It’s in response to people having a problem with me having a problem with Mitch Cleary’s assessment of our season.

Don't worry about other people Dude, other people are stupid. We still have your back over in the Negs.

For some reason I hope Port win
Lot of love for Travis Boak

I don't know a Port supporter so I'll hear no shit from them and no insufferable cockiness pushed in my face. I'd take Port for sure and Boak's a gun.

What if Rob Harvey stuck around for 2009 and he had played a similar amount to Nathan Jones that year. Would you want him in the team?
It's a dumb hypothetical, but I'd take Harves in that team every day of the week. I'm sentimental, I love that sort of thing. I'd play Nathan Jones not because it's smart, but because I think he's earned it.

Max Hudgeton in 2009 is probably the best example. I will always say we would have won if he had played. If Nath Jones is named for the GF, he will play as if it's the last game of his life.

💯

Melbourne's drafting and recruitment since they poached that pies bloke has been first class. Collingwood on the other hand resembles more of Melbourne prior to that.
Pickett, Jackson, May and Lever made that dees side elite.

Big lesson for St Kilda is to find that other Key back to help us out.

Edit: Langdon has been a good winger as well for the dees

Harvey replaces Sean Dempster (no offence to the bloke, one of my faves of the modern era) in our 09 side, who was thrown into the game for Robert Eddy based solely on his premiership experience, despite not playing for a month and being well down on his 08 form following the ACL (Some of you will argue for Raph, but Raph played his career best game for us in that years prelim).

I don't see someone that could similarly be argued for Jones in the Demons side.

Langdon has been very good
Plays a true wing and never stops running both ways
Been a great pick up for the Dees

Did you not read the part where I said we had been hugely disappointing?
My point was the commentary around it. We copped plenty, Collingwood for some reason didn’t seem to get the same scrutiny. Yes we were sh*t.

To be fair Collingwood got enough to push a President and a senior Coach out the front door.

Melbourne's only noticeable weakness is not having a lockdown small defender if they verse Port in the Grand Final they'll struggle to contain Fantasia and Gray. Id still have them as favourites though in that match up
Fantasia’s hammies are as bad as Hanners’. I’d be worried about Rozee and Gray

Ahh gonna be a great few days watching the commentators and the AFL deal with Toby.

Lachie Neale got a fine for this contact earlier in the year.

We should have played Gwilt before Dempster.

I think we can have the same tall set up. It just means one of Howard or Wilkie needs to actually defend and play the Harrison Petty role.

Say that's Howard. Then Wilkie (May) and Highmore (Lever) are freed up to roam and intercept.

Finding our Kosi Pickett is a little harder. Especially if Gresh insists on playing as a midfielder.

I don't know how I'm gonna stomach it if Melbourne win the flag.

We've had to watch every team from Sydney to Richmond break their droughts and just watch our opportunity sail by because the gods hate us.

Freo Carlton North and the expansion clubs will probably win one next and everyone will have a flag in this millennium while we're still waiting for Jack Billings to become elite at age 34 or something.

Just to be clear.

Neale got kneed in the head, whilst pissy, he also notified Nichols that he was bleeding from said face at a stoppage during general play.
Toby was a literal break in play, sought out ump and proceeded to make contact as if he was offended about something or other.

Contact for vastly different reasons, as one's an entitled dumbarse and one was having active blood flow that was missed. This being the AFL though, I'm expecting Toby to play since they want that cake and F literally everything else.
