Anyone considering trading Coffield is a idiot , 21yr old who can actually play and has massive scope - Parish and even Petracca only showed a flash of brilliance all until they were 24 and we are willing to offload a kid who could play a few more roles than a halfback flanker.
Back the kid in for christ's sake.

What's the deal with compo anyway? If a player is an unrestricted free agent then why does a team get draft picks? Seems stupid to me.

While Melbourne are an excellent team, they did require the AFL to step in and make them stop being a basket case.

The AFL gave them Paul Roos and a CEO, which helped them get off the bottom of the ladder.

Giving anybody Paul Roos is not a positive, the bloke is a fraud.

He was one of our best players , now he can't even hold his position where he played his best football - Roo was only given year extensions the last 3 years he played.
He to me feels he has been jilted and keeping him could rub off on to other players the same as Dunstan was by the sounds.
He has been on mega star wages for a run of the mill midfielder and now he has to lift his game to show his worth - I have the upmost respect for the guy but he is a battler who excelled in a piss poor team , now our standard has lifted and he has more competition than Armitage or Dunstan.

I do regret losing depth but if we are paying them good money because they have been good solid players - it is the wrong reason to keep them.
We all know the team list always has to been seen to be improving and if 28yr or 27yr old have hit there ceiling and the level is run of the mill there is no reason we shouldn't push them out.
We have now a management team who are not going to take mediocre as a standard , I have even seen people saying why Dunstan got dropped - the guy had a absolute shocker against the Blues - 8 clangers and 6 turn overs from 20 touches , that in itself is enough to be dropped apart from the negative attitude to the coaches as we found out.
And people saying we improved when he was in the team , well out of 12 games he played we won 5 and even Bytel had a better success rate.
As for Ross , should we give the guy a 2 year contract to a guy who might not even be in our best 22 next year.

Wouldn’t he just be another Bytel? We have enough trouble fitting in Bytel as a pure inside mid who can’t do other things. Owens and Windy provide other side roles and I assume we’re going a faster silky type for our first round. Not opposed to Trudgeon but just wonder whether he sits in the 2s for ages then gets delisted

Probably dropped his wage by a lot and he's not been given much love under Ratts. Probably struggling to feel he's wanted so still hoping to get out. He's gone from being in our best few players and a face of the club to a guy pushed out to filling holes and having his wages slashed.

Ratts like all coaches is starting to build his own list on top of heavy list culling from Lethers.

Brisbane have a potential pick 1 Father Son next year in Will Ashcroft. If this even has the remotest chance of being true I would imagine it will involve them beefing up their draft points in the 2022 draft. Possibly also they are looking to off load their 1st rounder next year like Collingwood did last year.

At face value Battle and junk for Pick 14 seems too good to be true.
But if it were next years first then makes more sense. We are in opposite positions next year they will want a lot of late picks and no early ones so they can accumulate the points to take Ashcroft and we will want 2 first round picks to start the bidding for Ben King. Maybe there is a win win in there for the banker to take advantage of he is a smart operator.

Bad timing for Seb with lots of clubs having tight caps. In a normal year players around his level can find new homes on big money.

Two time B &F etc etc but used him to illustrate his point that there won’t be so many big names moving due to covid salary cap restraints.

David Schwarz said that all his “diehard Saints” supporting friends (not me) reckon we are in the box seat for Mason Cox Morris said he hadn’t heard anything about it.
