I know this is gonna sound weird and all but I'm just as excited about day 2 as with 1!! Maybe because I've felt (and heard) we were into Ward from a fair way out from the Draft so there was no real surprises there but tomorrow there's a fair bit of intrigue!
With two picks before us and two relative ' standouts' in sonsie and MJ , it's a bit of a tease.
6:30 I thinkWhat time does the draft start for day two?
Pity. You guys with your eye on Sonsie, and North's list already laden with midfielders, are the ideal team to trade with. Also depends on where goater, butler, sonsie etc were on our board relative to Johnson. If we rated two of those top 15, there is no way we trade 23 and 26 to grab one player.
Someone will offer you a future second and a slight downgrade. Don't think it will be us personally.
Butler, Sonsie, Motlop, Johnson, Knevitt and Draper are all still on the board no way do we trade and waste a future second. We have 2 picks inside the first 6 selection tomorrow, even if those 6 are the first selected tomorrow we land 2 of them.Future Second + 26 for Johnson (Freos Pick)?
That would be worth it if we rate Johnson. His upside looks like pendlebury and his downside looks better then Howe, think it would be worth the extra pick.
Then we take Sonsie (or Someone better) with 23 because North cant pick another midfielder or they have seriously lost the plot.
Where's Butler?
Also, just take Howes at 26, and then when Callaghan wants to leave the Giants in two years, he can re-unite with his best mate. Plus Howes is a likely type.
If I was a betting man, I think we're taking Sonsie and Bazzo.
Think we stand pat at 21 unless someone offers a future first then we weigh it up based on the players left and where we rated them on our board.
If we stand pat at 21, I expect us to field offers to slide back to the early 30s for perhaps the cost of a future 2nd. Lots of options.
If nothing comes that we like, we get to just pick, which is also a great result.
Probably about 10 years to early at this stageIs it too early to say teams which load up in 2021 will have a strong decade to come like after 2001?
The 24 slide is not the worst tbh. We saw PA pony up a F2 to move up two spots. If Richmond see a player they love is on the board at our second pick, he could ask for a F2 and slide back only 3 places or so I think it would be. It will all depend on how highly we rate that group left. They are bigfooty rated players but there is every chance we actually wanted to draft Lohmann. Twomey suggested in his wrap up that we were keen and Brisbane got in before us. So while we see the remaining available players as a win the recruiters might hold a different perspective. Who knows? Can't waitAlso get the feeling we’re looking to trade one of these picks. Hope we don’t slide back for a future second…don’t really see the point with some many decent names on the board.
Freo will clean this draft up. They will pick Johnson tonight and get the three best WA kids in the draft...
Motlop will go to NorfFreo may trade back in and grab Motlop as well
Spot on. Hold and take the best available.Tonight is where we reap the benefit of our extra early 2nd rounder. Cannot see why we would trade the picks. 3 of the first 6 picks with some quality there. Let's not get too cute. Get it done. And get it right.
