Pick 15-20 is about right. We gave up pick 17 for Dawson who is a far superior player so a similar pick is likely what it will end up.

Regardless of the situation, I’m not giving pick 4 or 5 for a small forward. I’d offer next years first or something else but not this years pick.
GC have to many advantages in my eyes, they have all of Northern Territory for free as well.
If they piss us off I’d say PSD, ask Rankine to put 1 million for one year and he comes to us.

Well, he's definitely worth our pick in that range, given we **** them up so regularly.

Our pick 12 or so will return pick 35 or so in value, so we should jump at the chance to get Rankine for what's equivalently a second round pick

Agreed, I would argue we paid unders for Dawson. Particularly considering where Melbourne's first is going to end up this year.

I feel Rankine is worth 10-16. Dawson was probably worth 8-12. Melbourne's first could have landed there if they had a premiership hangover.

I think it's just good trading on our part because we're targetting uncontracted players that are showing significant improvement (just broken out/about to break out). The other team will never get fair value.

Allowing for the discount of using lower picks it would still equal closer to 11 - 13.
