Can't see us giving up 5. I think it will be Milera and our 2023 1st with GC 2023 2nd coming back to us.
Kelly has already said we’re open to trading out our first round picks this year, given we’re not linked significantly to any other player than Rankine it’s somewhat safe to assume that we’re willing to give it up for him.

Have you told Milera yet.

Milera is just about the least likely to want to head up there IMO.

BF playstation stuff. We don't hold the whip hand like last year with Dawson who we paid well unders for.

Dodoro at Essendon says, yes do that, we'll take him with a pick in the PSD before you. Al Clarkson would also be eyeing him with interest too. Both clubs have plenty of salary cap to play with. AFL have a watching brief on negotiations as well, they own GC of course.

We just need to get this deal agreed to before trade period starts, first deal lodged, then quickly move onto other trades. Time to be bold.

Absolutely. That should be our goal.

Rozee looks good in a crows jumper too…

Awesome news.

Can we also try not to be A holes about it with GC or moan too much about the inevitable media torment that we will be giving up the world?

Reid has (excluding Gibbs) a very good track record with trades - let’s trust the team to get a good result out of the overall trade/draft weeks

And we have been GC too many times. I would be spewing if I were in their shoes - no need to antagonise further

Yep. If it were Sydney or Carlton I would love sticking the knife in. But GC and us have no history of ****ing each other over (they've got nobody but themselves to blame for Atkins, that was a free agency move which is entirely on them :p). I'm happy for Reid to drive a hard bargain and get the best deal we can at the trade table, but I wouldn't be hanging sh*t on GC as a club or its supporters. As you say, we've been in their position too many times ourselves.

Oh yes, Milera who is cooked would be agreeing to uproot his life to go to GC when he holds a juicy contract for another three seasons here - that's not happening.

Won’t happen.

We’ll give up pick 5, we’ve more or less admitted that. Whether it’s straight to the Suns or through splitting the pick we’ll wait and see.
And there's the potential downside to this great news - the priority for the Crows is, without question, an elite(or potentially elite) midfielder, so without Pick 5 I will be fascinated to see what rabbit is pulled out of somewhere to obtain the right fit. If we go with the same group in 2023 we will not progress at all.

From here the AFL media engine will crank into overdrive suggesting we should pay massive overs for him and that it sucks for the poor Gold Coast and never should have happened

Meanwhile Victorian clubs pillage Gold Coast and GWS and that's all fair because they're "coming home"
Yep. Watch how quick the narrative of "they don't hold much currency because he is out of contract and players always get to where they want to go. Who wants a player at their club who doesn't want to be there"

Everyone says that, but surely GWS or North would have picked Dawson in the PSD? Especially North. Why is it so different this year?

Do these clubs have $1-1.5M free in their salary cap next year though as Rankine can choose to front load his contract with this amount? All of them have a lot experience players still contracted next year so if GCS are being unreasonable we can still use this strategy like what Carlton did with Martin.

Yep, never understand why people think in the AFL you can throw random names around as trade options. Milera is a SA lad, with a young family, and a long contract, I doubt he’s keen on a move. I also think people are writing Wayne off way too quickly, players rarely come back from such a long injury lay off and immediately return to their previous form. I’m tipping a strong 2023 from him.

Sorry I didn’t word that well, I meant trading out our first round picks (5 and 2023 1st) in this years trade period.

I don’t think GC will be keen to accept a 2023 1st given where their list is at.

We ain't getting JHF, if he goes anywhere it will be Powa now we've apparently commited to Rankine.

They will have way more draft collateral to swing the deal if he desperately wants out and it will want to be super enticing to get him out if North insist on holding him to his contract.
The club is going to offer JHF a monster offer as well. We are into him like a fat kid on ice cream.
JHF has no issue with the club at all.
