Blitz in mids most of the game not good.

If kolo out Parfitt in .

Blitz plays less mid .
Some ruck .
Some somewhere else.
Blicavs will continue to play his midfield/ruck role - the coach has spoken about it across the season and it being the preferred role for him

They aren't going to make a change now

Had a look at a few pages of the review thread on the Pies board. I'm a bit confused why we think they've been more respectful than Tigers supporters.

Most blaming the umpires, AFL corruption. Barely any respect or recognition shown to us. Quite disturbing, and from what I saw, absolutely no better than the Tigers, Hawks etc. They're salty as.

14 frees to 13. I thought it was umpired superbly. Umpires let the game flow as much as possible and just let the players play.

I just spoke with my old man on the phone and he's a massive Tiger supporter (one of the good ones). He thinks it was well officiated and Pies have no basis to sook about umpiring. He said it was consistent and non-decisions were there for both sides.

He laughed at Craig Mcrae criticising the umpires in his presser. He also thinks this win propels us to a flag.

Both sides deserved the win but only one can win in the end. This time it was us..
I thought the Pies fans were awesome around us in the 2011 GF, but last night on the way out there were plenty looking for a reaction from Cats supporters. Pretty ordinary a lot of it too.

Yesterday Selwood was playing his 38th final and by comparison the entire Fremantle 22 had only 37 finals games experience heading into their match against the Bulldogs.

Perspective - we are blessed

Fly was sooking it up .
Dimmer hardwick style.

I don't think he's players will be happy with him.
After he said half dozen blokes on the ground acting like losers. Act like winners.
Maybe becuase they were totally stuffed.
It was a hard game

Stewart said he was totally cooked with full body cramps.

Sooking about the umps who let it go ...

Straight to Oliver if it’s the Dees.

He not suited to the pies mids IMO.
He's suited to bigger bodies .

Unless Kolo is out imo
Even if JK is out, we've got coverage without needing to play Blicavs in defence

SDK missed round 16 versus North, and while they may not be the strongest opposition, we didn't throw Blicavs and instead trusted the guys who were there

Just as we didn't throw Blicavs into defence when JK missed during the season

The club seems pretty adamant that they don't view Blicavs as a defender, so not sure that changes going into a prelim final

I had no idea who their coach even was.

Apparently he played with CS!

High pressure and speed on the ball ay…?
We still don’t deal with chaos too well don’t we?
Luckily we were playing bottom 2 team from last year..
Good thing is hopefully we won’t be favourites for the cup now. Rather turn into the hunter rather than being the hunted. Hopefully that’s the case next time against the Dees…
Stanley awful as was Bews. Touhy jittery, blicavs jittery and Hawkins well beaten. Thought O’Connor coming on could be a blessing but he has been our worst senior player this year and so it continued… shabby type performance with too much speed on the game for the cats. How Geelong weren’t desperate in the first is mind boggling too given their history of failing at this stage…
Work to be done…
It’s a final ffs.
It was always going to be tight.
In the end we won by taking the game on. A lot of positives to take out of it, and as you say a bit to work on.

We are in a great position.

Thought Miers was very average tonight, but so too were Stengle and Close (granted he kicked two crucial goals).

Thought our midfield was very average for three quarters. C Guthrie didn't have his usual impact, Atkins was anonymous until the final term, Danger made too many errors, Stanley and Blicavs were thrashed by their direct opposition... It was grim and held together by Selwood who played a solid game.
Stengle was good, just because he didn't impact the scoreboard doesn't mean he had an average game. Thought he was 1 of our better players in the first half, his forward pressure prevented the Pies from getting a controlled disposal out of defense numerous times but there isn't really a stat for that which is the same reason Rohan goes underappreciated. He gave that goal off to Close in the last that he could have kicked himself but Close was the % play. He also should have had a pretty easy goal in the middle of the last when we went streaming up the guts and into our F50, Stengle got himself free on the outside of Close but Close chose to kick a short pass to Blitz and messed up the kick and we butchered that attempt.
Stengle is the hardest working small forward we have had in years.

Yeah, they can be a bit Moore loose and get away with a bit more on there. But TV stations and Foxtel won't accept what he can get away with on radio.

I quite enjoy his radio commentary, I always loved Rex on 3AW.

With BT I think it's mainly just that his commentary sensibility suits the Triple M vibe far more than the Channel 7 vibe.

I absolutely despise the TV version of BT and cringe every time he does "Roaming Brian", but I don't mind him at all on Triple M, especially back in the old days when the Triple M team had Frawley and Lyon and Dunstall. It's weird how the same person can elicit such different reactions in different contexts.

Yes we all know about the coaches stubborness. but they should change it.

except for some good tagging he really hasnt shown much in the centre square when he aint ruck. Offers nothing offensively and if his stopping role fails like it did last night we are a man down in the most important spot on the field.

kind of feel the benefit of putting stanley on the bench in the last qtr was more about getting blicavs out of the midfield role. Stanley was terrible last night but he had more possessions then blicavs who was a centre bounce midfielder for most of the match with 85 percent game time. How did blicavs struggle so much to get involved in the play?

parfitt was dropped after three 25 plus disposal games in a row. Blicavs just had 11. It cant continue.

Has anyone been able to work out how far and at what speed Rohan travelled to get on the end of Cameron's pass? He was so exhausted that he tripped over the goal square line before giving it to Holmes.
Using my phd in maths I calculated that he was travelling at the speed of light

Completely agree. Yeah that's a conversation to have behind closed doors with his players. He highlighted them publicly after a superb effort they put in for him.

I've really respected what Mcrae has done with them this year, but his actions were disappointing and I've lost a bit of respect for him. He looked salty as.

Umpiring was great, they were barely noticeable, but more importantly, they were consistent.
