Gee… its almost like people have completely forgotten our recent experimenting with playing just one actual KPD and using Doedee as a sort of stand in second KPD/intercepter..

I agree that Doedee as 2nd KPD can never happen again

However, it doesn’t have to unless two of Murray/Butts/Worrell go down

FWIW I would look to pick up a genuine mature age KPD in the rookie draft

Has soured me a bit on Doedee (unfairly). Worrell is so much of a better option in that structure it’s not even close and for me puts Worrell as a must keep and Doed’s as a trade if a good return.

He was so outsized/outclassed as a KPD

Keays is gone.. will be competing for a spot with Taylor and Pedlar next season and both of those two lads are lightyears ahead of him in the skills, decision making and talent stakes..

shouldnt take them long to knock him out and take his spot.. especially if Nicksy want to keep his job..

Victoria has nearly 4 times our population which evens itself out with extra clubs over there. Also Victorian players are more likely to want to return to Victoria than South Australian players wanting to return to South Australia. The draft, trade and FA is a massive advantage for Victorian clubs. The other factor is that the top Vic clubs can get away with paying a majority of their list unders compared to most interstate clubs. This essentially means that most Victorian clubs have a bigger salary cap in practice even though the total cap number is the same.

Victoria is 5x SA population now but yes it evens out

My very old and fading memory has a recollection he played his junior football as a defender. I’m standing corrected on that one though as I may have him confused with someone else.

That's essentially why I'm surprised we've never tried him down back..

I haven't, however we do have Worrell (who that said isn't great one v one but is at least a good size for a CHB) and still have other pathways to add intercepting power on top of Doedee, so it's not equivalent to last year.

After all, it was Doedee and a bunch of half backs. We know that doesn't work.
