the problem with all the debate here is that people are confusing his ability with his value.
Izak’s ability (or potential ability) is not being questioned, however.

Izak Rankine in this years draft, value would be somewhere between 4 and 6ish
Izak Rankine contracted, value would be pick 5 and next years 1st (possibly also a player)
Izak Rankine uncontracted with us having pick behind Port In PSD, probably pick between 6 and 10
Izak Rankine contracted with us having pick 5 in PSD, probably similar to Charlie, about pick 12 to 14.

Same player, different values.

Essendon did offer the same contract as us and have an earlier pick. I have no doubt we don’t feel 100% confident of getting him via that channel

The other question will be if we get one of those picks, how far will it come in after the ashcroft bid is matched along with other bids being matched?. It might on its own be enough to pay for a michalanney bid and then it really looks almost a straight pick 5 for rankine as the future 4th will just cancel each other out

We obviously highly rate our current list.
