Watched The Guardian on Saturday night.

Costner, Kutcher. All about a slightly past it, heroic coast guard rescue specialist, training up the hotshot that has more confidence than he should.

No classic film but entertaining enough. 7/10.
I really, really enjoy that movie, i think it had a cable run when i was living at home and i must have caught different sections of it over and over.

They filmed with the real USCG too which is always kinda cool.

No Hard Feelings

Meh/10 really. Had some funny moments, J-Law looks great and the kid in it is pretty good but it went alot harder on the meet cute/feel good stuff than the humour and its worse off for it.
The ad on TV for this when it was out at the cinemas was awful.

Was glad in the end I didnt go to see it.

Digital rentals for 7 dollars, sheesh
Fast tracks are usually $25-$30.

Then they drop to $20ish

Then $7

Then $3 or free

Given thats still relatively new (it was $24 on Friday, so maybe a movie day deal) i thought it was okay.

In reality with a 2 year old $30 for us to watch at home and save on concessions and babysitter etc is pretty good.

For that price I'd want the bloody director himself in my living room giving me a special commentary. :tearsofjoy:

That's nuts.

$7 for a new release aint bad. It used to be $9-12 in the good old days of video stores. I refuse to pay them 20 bux for a digital rental. No wonder australia is known for pirating so much.

I watched so many movies in the last 2 weeks I feel like im back in the old days when I used to get 10 weeklies for $10 from Movieland.

You pay $20 to go see it in a cinema.

If i paid $30 (which i only do for movies im desperate to watch) thats $15 per person, plus no babysitting, no overpriced popcorn etc.

Its actually not bad. Plus ive got a 75inch with surround sound.

I do love the cinema experience but i also hate the people in the cinema experience so in reality it winds up a fair bit cheaper for way less inconvenience.

If all films started doing at home rentals at the same time as cinema releases id probably upgrade the surround sound and never go to the movies again (or at least only for really important stuff)

Old video store days youd be waiting 6-12 months for the video release.

You get these while they are still at the cinemas.

I dont know why the **** im defending it TBH but IMO its really not too bad.

Yes, I understand all that.

Still think it's a ridiculous price.

I could be wrong but I havent seen any that came out same day though. If it was out same day then I would consider it and prob prefer it on a few occassions but if that happen it will kill off alot of cinemas, because apart from us die hards I think most people would not go. Still some movies I will want to see on the big screen.

A handful have done same day release but it is rare (those ones will be $30).

Most are within 8-12 weeks (at which point they will still be $20ish at the cinemas anyway) and theyll likely be more like $19-$24.

For two adults thats $9-$12 a ticket and for familes even less, add in cheap concessions, parking, babysitting.

Like, its not for everyone i get that but its also a pretty good and cost effective option for alot of people.

For me its ****ing great, once i got over the idea of renting a film for $24 and actually though it through it was great.

I think for clarity too, i dont want all films to be released on the same day at home. It would be ideal for me personally but as you note vast it would kill the cinema industry which i dont want at all.

Im only pointing out its actually a pretty cost effective option for some people (especially families). Plus more families doing this means less restless kids in the cinema.

Yeah it comes down to the family v single ticket purchase. Because of my vrewards I will generally only pay $10 to see a movie in vmax. So rental is not worth it for me.

OVERPRICED POPCORN?!

Outrageous!

Aint no homemade popcorn or microwave popcorn ever as good as cinema popcorn, they can price it whatever they want, I'm always all in.
Village popcorn really does suck balls tho. The popcorn in America shits all over ours.
