I'm impressed with the comments from his agent Tim Lawrence.Good result. At worst, he’s good insurance. At best , maybe he has a renaissance.
He’ll be long gone before pick 40.
It doesn’t inspire me with a lot of confidence that Parfitt looked at the 17 other clubs’ midfields and thought his best chance of a game was with Geelong……

I don't see the need to draft a ruck this year but the ruck economy has changed quite a bit. Teams don't carry surplus rucks on the list anymore so it is not like back in the day when Cox, Sandilands, Jacobs and Mumford all came off the rookie list.
Gawn - pick 34
Darcy - pick 38
English - pick 19
Grundy - pick 18
Goldstein - pick 37
De Koning - pick 30
Taking Conway at pick 24 is basically the sweet spot to get a good ruck via the draft these days
Who would people rather?
Tim O'Brien or Will Gould? View attachment 1827623
I'd be keen to add Will Gould for free, would be decent backup, was keen on him in his draft year

Two questionsI'm impressed with the comments from his agent Tim Lawrence.
Lawrence mentions Brandan's weakness, "“He’s working really hard on his running capacity, we reckon it can be better,” he said. “If you’ve got a problem with the way you play or what you’re doing, it’s going to catch up with you again anyway. You’ve got to sort this stuff out, you can’t run away from it.”
As his manager is holding up a mirror for him I'm expecting some real nose to the grindstone effort. Is he capable of that commitment and can he maintain it? It remains to be seen but it's now make or break time.
DittoConnor O’Sullivan
Two questions
1. If Parfitt doesn't think he can make it in the midfield for the other 17 clubs, why does he think he can do it at Geelong?
2. Who was the last player who started to work on an aerobic deficiency after 120 games, and did it successfully?
Reality though- we are the worst MF this season, for injury reasons, but what he says is true, the grass may not be greener elsewhere. It doesn’t inspire me with a lot of confidence that Parfitt looked at the 17 other clubs’ midfields and thought his best chance of a game was with Geelong……
1. Because we need him. Simple. Two questions

Yes, but only because that's what he said.Did you really read that article and interpret it as Parf thinking he can’t make it into any AFL midfield?
A glaring weakness throughout his career is what his manager actually said.1. Because we need him. Simple.
2. It's not that he is just starting to work on it, it has now become the preseason 24 agenda for him. He would have always done the required running preseason, but 23 , like ALL our team, was probably below par.
And I recall Luke Hodge really making a concerted effort in his latter Hawks preseasons to lose weight and increase his running programme, and even had a running coach. Never too late.

Good that we have him for 24 anyway, big chance he proves his worth, has a real breakout season, at worst, good depth.
At least he looks to be starting 24 with more running capacity.
why are you not endorphinised by that?
Bingo.Because it is simply expected to happen and it won't feel like any kind of bonus, relief or bullet dodged.
I wonder if Stevie J upped his running before his transition around 2012/2013 from gun forward to gun midfielder. I would assume he did.1. Because we need him. Simple.

You are onto something here.I wonder how many games in total we get out of Stanley, Rohan (who I believe are our twin barometers) and Cameron.
All are injury prone.
