Pro-gun yanks will say that if the bystanders had guns they could have stopped it earlier.
Yeah that's true, but if one person has a sub machine gun, so many people can be shot quickly in a short space of time before any realises what's going on and pulls out their hand gun that they have to be willing to use to kill someone

Wearing an Australian Rugby League team jersey. Interesting choice of apparel.

Who knows but there is a chance as well that the bloke at the top of escalator was one as well.

On SM-A125F using BigFooty.com mobile app
That guy at top of the escalator was the real hero. Really tied the guy up on the escalator so he couldnt attack anyone and he only had a bollard as defence. Cop then had a chance to sneak up and shoot him.

Team work, both were heroic.

Plain clothes officers would have probably been not too far behind the heroic police officer that shot the attacker dead.

'A separate video ... showed two people in plain clothes – one of whom was carrying a chair – following a police officer as she ran through the shopping centre.
...
During another stabbing rampage in the Sydney CBD in 2019, firefighters and other bystanders managed to pin the attacker – Mert Ney – to the ground using a chair and a milk crate.
