no one is scared of a team that has finished outside of finals in 32 of the last 42 seasons. Richmond has been a peasant football club for a very long time with a lucky blip, but we're back to usual programming now.
Selective thinking, I remember a lot earlier than that, when we were far from pleasant, and also 3 recent GF's, so not much point choosing selected periods of crapness. Of course Geelong have been very good to great for a long time, but not many clubs have done that if any. In my lifetime Geelong GF's 5 - Richmond 8.

Well at least we now know it’s not a personal thing against the Tigers. You guys like to pile on the Hawks too. Insecurity reeks, not a coincidence we both smashed you during our runs.

Smashing you was ground zero for our run.

Round 6, 2007. And we haven't looked back since. We got run into such good form by the Tigers in that game that our purple patch lasted 17 years.

Honestly, we only really care about the Hawks. There's a minority of tigers cookers who are full conspiracy theory though and they are entertaining.

Hawks will be back though. Lay the boot in while you can

When you have a rivalry with another club born from fierce competition and respect over 2 decades as we do with the Hawks .. yeah we give it back and forth.

And yes.. its not a personal thing with the Tigers. Hawks were good for 20 years - Tigers had 4.

They dont rate highly enough for us to care about like that. Get competitive, go thru your rebuild and come back in 5 years and we'll see where you are at.

Lost that form in the 2017 QF, 2019 PF, 2020 GF? ;)

God I love that little trifecta

It’s sad that you think you have a rivalry with the Hawks.

They smash you when it matters EVERY SINGLE TIME.

It’s akin to Stockholm syndrome tbh.

Do home and away games that directly result in a team missing or making finals matter? Or is it just finals? Or only grand finals? Cos we’ve beaten the Hawks in all of those situations. I think any Hawks fan would happily say that Geelong are one of their biggest rivals, although I think most of them have an extra special spot in their hearts for the Bombers.

Hawks have stolen flags off you. Have you done the same to them?

That’s what a real rivalry is.

Same deal with us, 11-2 finals record our way means we REALLY do not care about H&A games when everybody was thumping us anyway.

I believe your bunnies are the Pies right? Well you are the Pies equivalent for the Hawks and Tigers. We just don’t really see you guys as a threat.

The issue is when our team is decent Richmond are mostly nowhere to be seen. It's pretty easy to protect a finals record that way. We probably will have wait 36 years for another Richmond/Geelong final, by which time another few Cats flags might be secured. Why not try and play finals in the meantime and ruin the party? You had the chance in 2022 and choked it.

There's still time in 2024. Who's coming back in this week to play the Dockers?

That’s right…….. that’s where you were when we were in our flag winning years.

Yes their 2-1 grand final record has really gotten away from us and 6-4 overall record has really been disastrous. Every single time. Smashings.

A real rivalry is two teams perpetually getting in each other’s grill. Not one team bobbing up once every time Halley’s Comet reappears to remind everyone that they exist and then disappear off the face of the planet again while the other one ‘falls’ to third or fourth during their down years.

Again, if your club is as great as you make it out to be you would have given yourself every chance to prove it while we were at the top of the tree but you weren’t. You were busy getting flogged by 30 goals and having crowds turn up to the MCG that would barely fill Kardinia Park, members microwaving memberships, and talkback callers generally making radio hosts want to quit their jobs rather than field another call from a tigers fan. But they weren’t: they were shit. Hawthorn to their credit took it up to us while we were at the top and pinched a flag off us, and we managed to at least get past them in a final on the way to our next flag and win a dozen games on the bounce against them afterwards, and be there to contest THEIR title runs.

As has been observed, you popped up, peaked, were enjoyed by basically nobody and then f**ked off again.

You were like 80s music.

Same could be said about Geelong in the VFL era. It’s 11-2, you had your chances.

Don’t know who’s coming back.

You guys seem really defensive about a rivalry you are losing in. That’s really sad, like I said Stockholm syndrome.
