And Nash didn't really stop JHF either

I think JHF is too big, strong and fast to be tagged.

Butters doesn't have the size to wear a 97kg body at the stoppage for 4 quarters.

Sam shouldn't have changed a thing. It wasn't as if JHF was winning them the game. He was off the leash and we were still 4 goals up.

Can I admit....I had to watch the final 5 minutes with the sound down because of BT and Butthead on the call

As Hyphen man boy kicked the ball I screamed NOOOOOOOOO! that's ****ed ! really loudly and immediately turned off the TV

I looked up to see both teenage daughters and wife staring blankly at me - I then yelled out "I hate sport" and am now sulking in the study

Not a great effort by me -

Lets not be too harsh on the team or coaches. They toughed it out but couldn't hang on. A bad result but lots to come out of the game. Team has improved dramatically over the past few weeks. They played some really good footy. Team didn't choke. They just couldn't hang on and that last goal was crazy. We lost it at the final ball up where we should have set up to bottle it up for another bounce to kill the clock. There were mistakes and some sloppy handling in that last quarter but we should be proud of the team.

Really bizarre to swap the magnet to take Nash off Butters.

Nash had absolutely dominated Butters for 3 quarters and suddenly goes off him for JHF.

Butters pretty much wills his team back.
I'm no AFL level coach but I wonder if the old 'if it's not broken' approach would have been more sensible.
Happened last year with Richmond too, Finn was on Daniel Rioli and last quarter moved the tag and Rioli won it for them.

I thought Nash was on JHF for the whole game

We were winning comfortably all game playing smart positive football. We lost our composure and went negative. As soon as Port had a sniff we were in trouble.
As disappointed as I am with such a heartbreaking loss, I am very proud of the effort. It's a learning experience for the playing and coaching group. Lick the wounds and move on.

Cant wait for the press conference. Heat must come for the coaching group.

To be fair going into this game if we had lost by less than 4-5 goals Sam would have had his praises sung by the media all week long.

I think get rid of holding the ball decision as doesn't exist anymore especially at home games to pay the free. In that last quarter there were two free kicks so blatantly ignored why? Mitchell made some coaching errors in my opinion. Mcguiness is a stoppage specialist and would have thought that having him tag Horne Francis might have been more beneficial than McKenzie. Was he injured for this game? Moving Hardwick away from the goals defies belief and worst of all just trying to save the game when we should have just kept attacking. Should never have lost that game and Frosty enormous in last quarter. You take out a 19 year old kid in Francis with a tough tagger then I think we win by 6 goals. Mitchell I hope you learn from this and instruct the players attack always NEVER try and save the game as makes you look like a goose...

Watching Hinkley carry on like a flog at the end of the game made me vomit just a little in the back of my throat 🤢

That one hurts, our midfield just went totally missing that last quarter.
Remember that when the campaigners finish 9th and miss on the finals and the heat is on him yet again
