So all those later picks we accumulated last year where not pointless. Happy with that.

It's not fully clear from the video or article but they are just reducing discount and removing points after 54 right...
Like there's other changes to the value per pick?
Oh yeah, I didn't think about what specifically 54 is worth now, which is 220 points. That does make it sound like it will be harder to matchIt will scale from 3000 for #1 to 14 points for #54.
More than 10000 points taken out of the pool, but they haven't announced the actual points yet.
Definitely harder to match. Much steeper curve.Oh yeah, I didn't think about what specifically 54 is worth now, which is 220 points. That does make it sound like it will be harder to match
Is this your suggestion, or is it on AFL website?
Pretty sure the drop in the discount is a change from next year as well so the 20% discount still applies for this draftSo basically:
NGA back to bid matching at any point
Discount for F/S drops from 20% to 10%
Change in scale of points from 1-54 from next year (no points after 54)
Trading of future picks up to 2 years in advance from next year
Mid season picks can be traded from 2026
Free agent compo will take into account contract length (up to 5 years)
You couldn’t come up with anything more stupid then having discounts as a %The Dees having Mac Andrew ripped away from us will be my asterisk on our poor performances for the next 10-15 years. No club has been disadvantaged more. Pathetic AFL. Can't wait til Kane gets the boot. Why the hell is there even a discount for a father/son. She's lost the bloody plot.
Not sure you can blame Kane for you missing out on Mac Andrew, she wasn't working for the AFL when they changed the NGA rules. The Dees having Mac Andrew ripped away from us will be my asterisk on our poor performances for the next 10-15 years. Kane should publicly apologise or something though. it's a decision that can impact us for 10-15 years. Not sure you can blame Kane for you missing out on Mac Andrew, she wasn't working for the AFL when they changed the NGA rules.
The discount is necessary to be able to match a bid with a later pick.

No, the discount isn't necessary. It's all based on points so they can match with multiple picks. Clubs should be paying 'overs' for the luxury of having access to father-sons, certainly not a discount. It's a bloody joke.
Max Laughton from Fox posted itIs this your suggestion, or is it on AFL website?
If it wasn't Essendon getting an advantage this year do you think the NGA matching would be changing this year?
My favourite bit was when she said that overhauling the points system to make it harder to match bids allows for a change in the NGA matching. If it wasn't Essendon getting an advantage this year do you think the NGA matching would be changing this year?
