They worked really hard to get in front. Then they didn’t. That’s the crux of the issue. We do it in games all the time and I’m over it. If we want to ever be serious team again we need to ride that wave of momentum by working even harder once we’ve hit the front in games. That’s when we’ll be contenders again.Or you could gloss over the fact we hit the front at all. We could've lost this by 80+
This team has more ticker than many want to admit. But of course, they're carrying the sins of previous Essendon failures, so everything is magnified 10x

have you seen their injury list too?
young, yes, but we also have a lot of players that wouldnt be best 22 in most other sides
McGrath wasn't what you'd hope for from #1 but no one from the top end of that draft was either. McCluggahe is a good player in a great team but wouldn't be a game changer in our list. Can we just admit that McGrath was a #1 pick fail and drop him? Not part of our next flag push.
Peptides wearing off.Did sidearse play drunk or has he smashed half a dozen since getting off the ground?
#commsgateFox now saying equal comms access after earlier saying, unequivocally, that we had none while Collingwood did.
This is just wrong. We had the pies on the back foot once we hit the front, then we went into our shells and as usual our sloppy defence showed up as the pies picked there way through.
I've heard this before. We just don't learn.Still can’t believe we played an extra tall in the wet. Just dumb coaching
I am not 100% convinced it would have mattered. Couple of our smalls where horrible.Still can’t believe we played an extra tall in the wet. Just dumb coaching
Clug has the ability to play in more than 1 positions and influence a game. McGrath has no spot. Not skilled enough to hurts teams out of the back line and not disciplined enough to play lock down. Today was one of his better lock down efforts and can’t do it for 4 quarters. Blokes half an afl player getting paid bulk coin and the VC.McGrath wasn't what you'd hope for from #1 but no one from the top end of that draft was either. McCluggahe is a good player in a great team but wouldn't be a game changer in our list.
Could we not offer them both a packet to play out the last 12 months of their careers playing for us? Would give our young players some real success-experienced professionals to play alongside and learn from. No one on our list has any experience of a successful club culture until nowShit happens, Collingwood are top of the ladder and just beat Brisbane in Brisbane.
I just want Sidebum and Pendlebury to hurry up and retire.
Yep.. Leave the ice baths to BomberPendals and sports science helping him play this long, careful old boy
Yep, Pies did the hard yards, 1%ers. We stopped dead and 2 horrendous turnovers killed any spark. We had the pies on the back foot once we hit the front, then we went into our shells and as usual our sloppy defence showed up as the pies picked there way through.
I agree with your comments about experience and class but we clearly had the momentum during that second period and we started to chip around again, which clearly wasn’t working at any point during the game. This is just wrong.
We didn’t kick away because we don’t have the bodies, class or experience that Collingwood has. We didn’t go into our shells, we just don’t know how to kick on yet.
They should be beating us now. Just like when their era finishes in a couple of years time and our players are hitting their prime, we should be outclassing them.
