But credit to the team for getting themselves back into the contest even though Port did everything to try and lose the game.

PC is really having a season and it's great that he received a 50 rather than giving away one, for once.

A lot of work to do but the effort is there and hopefully, when the belief come into, I just want us to smash those scumbags next week!!

I liked McKercher's effort today. I agree the kid is no Rocky Balboa, but he is small framed at THIS point in his career. He needs to grow into his body and find his best position and hopefully he will become the player MOST of us want him to become. Give the kid a break, I could see the weight of expectation weighing on him today and I think he responded admirably. Give him time to develop, and if a portion of those games are VFL so be it. But we need him to reach his potential, we can't afford another high end pick to fall short.

If we could stop conceding like 8 goals in first quarters, that would be a good step forward. Sick of being forced to claw our way back into games, it's obviously not a position that our team has the mindset to attack. Keep this game even from the start and who knows what happens.

Disposal efficiency of 32%. Agree he was better today (off a very low base the last couple weeks) but I think he really needs to go back to the twos and find some form.

Larkey has a get out of jail card. Off day infront of goal. Took some really good contested marks. Captain opposite today. Contested marking..

We played really well for the majority of the game. Cracked in hard and moved the ball well.
Game was lost in the first quarter. Port got a goal in the first minute of the game and the first 3 centre clearances. At quarter time we went in 4 goals down.
LDU cannot play the sweeper role.
After quarter time we got X to tap/bash the ball forward. It worked really well as Port could not roll through our midfield and it was also predictable to our own mids.
Larkey missed 3 goals he’d normally kick, but that’s footy.
Thought Zurhaar was v disappointing in the first half.
LDU is too unaccountable.
Many positives though.
Duursma came on and took a few nice marks.
Archer and Hardeman looked reliable down back.
Comben was terrific, was clearly blocked by Rioli with about 10minutes left and should have got a free kick, but Port marked and goaled.
Our midfield is much better when Wardlaw is on the ground.
Parkers best game.
FOS is a great early draft pick.
McKercher’s run and carry is great, and exactly what we need.
Sheezel, Xerri and Curtis all played great.
JHF is a high maintenance sook.

And this is not about Toby Pink. Please consider Corr or Logue or even Wil Dawson as an alternative if you desire.

What does Kal Dawson give us?
Seriously.

He's not an experienced KPD. Played loose at Willy.
He's older than Toby Pink so it's not as if we are playing the kids.
He's not as strong as any of them, except maybe Wawson.
And he has no cohesion whatsoever with Comben.

Someone explain to me what I'm missing with Kallan Dawson's selection after that performance tonight.

Georgiacokinakis kicked 2 goals. Probably would have a bag if he played on Corr or Logue.

He did some okay things, hasn’t played many AFL games for a while. At least he gives 100%.

He ****ed a kick up which made me wanna spew but the other two that were dropped are no better.

Pink probably should come in next week to play on Peter Wright because he will give Cobden a bath.

5 shots on goal. Mostly from the pocket. He’s a good forward. Just a shit shot. Dawson didn’t do any worse than what we have been watching recently. Thats the point I was trying to make.

Georgiades out marked him quite a lot especially up the ground, whereas Corr would have nullified the contest. We had much better defensive cohesion/transition after q1 so there wasn’t many one on ones - when that did happen Dawson generally lost the contest. I think there is a place for him in the side but as others have said it should be the third tall and not as one of the two KPDs.

They bring effort and then you remember mid-way through the last quarter that the win is essentially beyond them and you become depressed again. It's a matter of the possibility being opened up, and then being closed just as swiftly.
