Georgiacokinakis kicked 2 goals. Probably would have a bag if he played on Corr or Logue.

He did some okay things, hasn’t played many AFL games for a while. At least he gives 100%.

He ****ed a kick up which made me wanna spew but the other two that were dropped are no better.

Pink probably should come in next week to play on Peter Wright because he will give Cobden a bath.

Not looking positive for some stalwarts given Logue & Corr were dropped and IMO we lost the game by kicking ourselves out of it upfield. Strikes me that some of our "experienced" players aren't as critical as they think and that has just been displayed clearly.

Add on that we basically lost because of mistakes and decisions from the senior cohort, it looks like the truth has been staring us in the face all along :stern look:

Play these damn kids!

At least we kept Port to under 100 points on their own deck and we brought effort but gees the skills on our senior blokes is woeful. Maybe we should turn Simpkin into a tagger because his skills are terrible. Makes so many mistakes which are momentum killers. The less he has the ball the better. Not sure what Tucker was doing but maybe he took his role of watching Rozzee literally because he was nowhere near him. He has to be dropped.

Xerri was back to his best, Sheezel found form in the second half and so did Archer. Good to see Stephens have a crack and not shirk it when it was his turn and Georgie boy was terrific.

Let's see if we can bring the effort again next week against Essendon because if we don't their front runners will destroy us.

For someone like Hardeman to not look out of place in his first full game in terms of team defense and even making some brilliant effort plays like going back with the flight to spoil in front of Georgiades makes the efforts of Corr and Logue plain old embarrassing (perhaps not Logue's fault though tbf, the acl might've destroyed his confidence, athleticism and agility).

I can see the kids being able to execute the game plan much faster than the vets who have shown time and time again that they're simply aren't up to the task.
Hardeman and archer showed more intestinal fortitude in that last quarter than I’ve ever seen from Logue and corr

We ran as a combined unit 311kms

Puts us in the top 5 all time meters run comparative to all other games according to the tracker.

I’d say that’s more of a modern balance in that squad than we’ve had in the last 3 years

The Nylex family is on the road back to Melbourne.
4 nights in the Grampians, 2 at Victor Harbour and 2 in Adelaide, going to last nights game.
The boys played really well.. The first quarter cost us the match, particularly the centre clearance work in that first quarter. We won the last 3 quarters and played great footy. Enjoyed the match!!

We've been stubbornly running with lazy dinosaurs for their 'experience' in leading us to 10+ goal beltings. We dramatically switch up our backline and then suddenly we're in a game up to our eyeballs against the GOAT flat-track bullies at their home ground in Adelaide.

Might be a coincidence, or it might be evidence that smacking our heads against a wall every week come selection time might have been worth something other than brain damage.

We were dominated in the first and 3rd. Evened up the ledger in the second. The last Q was an arm wrestle. The first Q was a stand out poor quarter, especially the last 10 minutes. To say we won the last 3 quarters, you’re kidding yourself.

If anyone says honourable loss to me I'm punching them in the teeth. I'm so sick of losing. We had probably half a dozen chances to square it up and take the lead. We let ourselves down everytime and it was one of our leaders every time.

For me Larkey has enough credits in the bank to let this one go as disappointing as his output was but LDU & Simpkin were putrid today.

I don't think I've detested a North player as much as I do Caleb Daniel. If he's best 22 going forward i will legitimately stop watching.

It seems like the effort was generally good today which tells me there's been a few weeks that a bunch have turned up without it which is inexcusable.
Agree re. Larkey. I mean, he’s kicked 70 goals in a team that finished last and his conversion rate is the best in the comp. And who do we replace him with anyway? Yes, he had an absolute Barry Crocker today - and could well have cost us a win - but think people are being pretty harsh in potting him …

We coulda shoulda won but didn’t.

It is where we are.

If we bring that level of intent and effort we will win games.

If we bring whatever last week was everyone will beat us.

The massive challenge in front of us right now is backing the effort and intent up on Thursday.

I think this has to be the takeaway for this group. That level of intensity, physicality and hard running will win games this year - even when riddled with errors (which should hopefully start to work through with consistent effort). The challenge for this group is to see this as the standard and the match committee to stop being cute and punish harshly when it isn't upheld.

The effort Rd1, Rd2 and last night which was IMO our best and most physical (albeit with much scrappier skills) will see us get easily 5-6 wins and hopefully more for the year.

Exactly. I'm not going to praise them until they bring this effort consistently. I think we dropped a couple of lazy non-believers and looked better for it. The axe needs to keep coming down.

I'm upset about the loss as the win was right there for the taking, but notably in a more normal footy way and not a 'God is dead and we have killed him' way like usual.

If we bring pressure and intent there are teams that can break. Which is what happened with Melbourne.

Then when that happens a lot of the disposal issues wash away.

But we are not there. Just play meat and potatoes first option footy.

Live our roots play workmanlike footy. Build it as the basis for everything.

At the risk of debating the shades of brown the shit of a loss is. You’re correct.

Losses all suck. This one sucked less and there is elements of the game everyone can point to and say we can build on that.

I hated last week with a passion. Another demoralising loss after years of shitness.

Who knows what Thursday brings.

Even though it's at our home, I think the Bombers game will be harder. Some dicey match-ups. Yesterday's effort needs to be the standard. The boys should be filthy that they let a first win at AO slip away.

Left the house down by 5 and a bit goals. Reading the thread in the second quarter:

  • McDonald is so horrible
  • Daniel is sh*t
  • Kerch is a cat
  • Larkey is the worst
  • Zurhaar no where to be seen

Checked the score and we had kicked the last 3 goals
It wouldn't be BF without having a snipe at someone. Having said that, we do have some issues with players that are held in high regard that are clearly "letting the side down".
