This is the sought of the “thinking outside the square” move that I like and that JL couldn’t fathom…

I would go this move to cover for Young. Bring in Oscar as second ruck or even Voss.
Yes this is what I and a couple of others were talking about in the threads in the last few weeks (first with Voss and then OMac after Vossy got suspended). Against several sides especially in Vic game there is a real argument that you don't use Lukey in the ruck as ruck at all, and instead have him rampage around as a very tall, very agile midfielder - with a ruck duo of Darcy / Voss or OMac doing the actual ruck contests at both centre clearances and stoppages. I think this is a much better way to use Lukey's innate see ball chase ball get ball kick ball chase ball again instinctive drive - and it means we have flexibility to switch an OMac or a Voss around if one of our primary talls gets hurt mid game.

You know what the crazy thing is, we have one , Jackson
Why the hell he isn’t played as a midfielder, particularly when we are getting flogged baffles me

Case in point :
Serong clearly getting beaten tonight in the midfield and Switta just letting the ball walk out of our forward line

Coaching solution :
Put Jackson on ball and move Serong to the forward line .
He was put there in the last part of the last quarter when the game was over. Way too late. Could have tried Switta. Even Reid looked better than the other three when he went in the middle in the last quarter, . Leave the same guys in there, until they get it right. Even if it means losing. Total garbage. Corey needs to follow Justin out the door closely followed by Graham. Of course we will beat Collingwood next week and they will make me look like an idiot. Very Freo.

When our midfield isn't capable of playing significantly better than that.

We know they are. We saw it last week. They were destroyed this week and he heat needs to go on them first, their stoppage coach and the general coaching group.

I don't think it's effort. I think they were pushed aside.
If the players continually don't get up for big games the buck stops with the head coach.

I'm just pointing out that maybe it's a bit more complicated that you're seeing. And that's OK.

I hope Freo management see everything and make appropriate changes.
Nah Taylor you are having a go at me directly and deliberately, and not even trying to respond to my question.

Same old same old, just wondering when you will finally publicly admit that JLo ain't (and never was) it.
I know you never will, it will always be someone else's fault other than JLo, and the JOM trade in will always be the greatest ever trade for you. I just hope you get whatever it is you are seeking from this approach.

Alex Pearce is an anti-semit?

What did I miss?

He's probably not an anti-Semite but has unfortunately chose to show support for Kneecap, who have repeatedly voiced support for anti-semitic terrorist groups. A lot of people just don't know any better.

It's a lot like all those political science students wearing Che Guevara T-Shirts, a bloke whos biggest achievement in life was executing thousands of innocent people, and having 1 attractive photo taken.

Move it over to the Pearce thread if you’re that desperate for someone to argue with

The only positive I can take from tonight was Bolton's aggression or frustration.

He looked angry and took it to a few Saints - which I was surprised.

The smiles and pleasantries after the game have me wondering what club we are. I said it last week - the hugs that Jlo was giving at the end of the game after we went goaless...

Clearly he didn't bake the boys about that? or even be stern and let them know they're on notice... Called it last week and look what happened. His response for the post match was much the same "Yeah, uh, Yeah... Yeah... uhmm"

I think JL is clearly not going anywhere with this group.

However I fear the problems run much deeper.
There are very few leaders out there.
Very few men with the hardness and brutality required to play serious AFL footy week in week out.
So brittle and weak mentally.

This is not a premiership list - in fact it’s not even close.

First time I’ve seriously thought there will be no premiership window with this group.

I disagree. We looked all at sea in Harvey's last year too before Lyon whipped them into a hardened machine in no time.

Was it Lyon who used to use the term 'hungry to be lead' or was that JLo? Either way, even a team of hungry lions would look ineffectual when lead by a limp lettuce.

About to go back and read the thread but I need to vent first. That was pathetic. Absolutely f**king pathetic.

Like I'd go as far as saying that was so pathetic it was practically a player statement that they want a new coach. Everyone knew the narrative about JLo going into this game, including the players, and to dish up that sort pathetic performance is as close to a concerted player effort to get a coach sacked as I've even seen.
It did seem that way.

Worth remembering too that many of the team's important players and leaders (especially the midfield) have "grown up" with Longmuir as their coach.

They don't know anything different. I'm sure they're genuine when they vocalize their support for JL but it's not farfetched to think a new coach with a fresh perspective would hit them like a ton of bricks.

I may be wrong - but I heard that Lyon told Pavlich if he doesn't follow "his" game plan - he didn't care if he retired playing for South Fremantle...

I also heard a story about Lyon confronting Morabito after he did his second knee... Morabito was on his way to Bali and Lyon asked him who he thought was the best player in the AFL was and he responded "Judd"

Lyon then asked - "Do you think Judd would be going to Bali after a knee recon?"

That's the attitude we need

So much comfortability in the team.

And why not? On excellent coin, as long as you try hard you keep getting selected.

Nothing, nothing to make them uncomfortable.

Ross made the Aints shit their pants last week - we've all been in a workplace situation like that at some point in our lives. Perform or **** off.

None of that exists at our club, none of it.

Like I said - a goaless last quarter last week was a telltale sign of what was to come.

If I was Jlo - I would be tearing strips off them and oh boy - Monday... get ready boys! We're going to work!

Not really. There were many games our mids were getting smashed and monstered. Young was the big bodied mid that for awhile changed our fortunes.. unfortunately coming back from injury he hasn't had time to have the same impact
Been saying this for years.
Fyfe retires this year
Erasmus asks for a trade
Brodie too or is delisted

Suddenly the team is left with
Young Brayshaw Serong MJ
JOM

That’s scary. No depth at all in the middle.

Yet the coaches still play the same old 3/4 and expect different. Tried to paper over the cracks by having a 31 year old as third mid at the start of this season. That says it all.
Not backing in MJ, nor Erasmus nor anyone else. Suddenly that 3/4 are overrated and can’t win clearances.

What about a mature Dudley and Reid?

You also have Brodie (once Jlo goes), O'Driscoll and Johnson...

Bolton pitch hitting in the middle...

We finish in the bottom 8 (looks like it) draft a couple of mids

Hey at least you get to watch the Cubs, having a decent season they are, and geez that city is an awesome place to be outside and watch baseball...
I’m actually from Milwaukee originally. I’ve been a brewers fan since I was a wee lad. Talk about a disappointing club. Ha! But MLB is messed anyway. No salary cap so the rich clubs get the best players and clubs like the brewers are just feeder clubs for them. Can’t really support baseball anymore as an adult.

But I’ve been a Green Bay Packers fan season ticket holder since 1993. Not a better stadium and game day experience than that. At least I support one quality team that isn’t made up of soft pudding. Lol. 😂

We be watching tonight with my mate originally from Oklahoma.
He is a fellow suffering Docker.
I did mention your good self Daddoo.

Fremantle Dockers CEO Simon Garlick declares coach Justin Longmuir will ‘absolutely’ be at club in 2026

Geez, they smashed us in clearances by 28 but we gave a lot of free kicks in a myriad of different ways away at stoppages. It wasn't so much in the 6-6-6 set ups because there were hardly any goals in the first half.
