I’ll be there! Can’t remember the last time we’ve beaten the Hawks - crap game at Docklands last year and the year before at the G. Hawks a much better side this year. Time to get the monkey off the back. Did it a number of years ago when we had never been the Pies at the G. Big game. Hope us Lions supporters are out in force Saturday arvo.
Never ever thought we couldn’t win it with Joe at FF. He was one of the main reasons we could and did win it. You can’t see a glaring issue when the ball going forward? You also can’t win a flag with Hipwood and Daniher… but we proved that wrong.
Replacing Joe was always going to be the challenge this season. Losing all of our backup tall forward options wasn’t part of the plan this year but here we are. We had similar injury challenges last season and found a way through.
It’s up to the rest of the team to scrape the wins until hopefully things improve in that regard.
8 goals from our makeshift tall’s tonight show that perhaps they’re not the issue anyway…

Potentially Payne was looking for an option that didn’t involve kicking it to Gawn. I don’t know if they didn’t present, but i’d put it on one of the other smaller defenders to provide those options, even hard running around the back for a handball.Payne’s only job is to punch and intercept mark. He has an incredibly low footy IQ. Before he coughed it up going short in the last (again) I said to my son, he’s going to do something stupid here.
For the record, Ryan Lester’s disposal efficiency was 93% tonight.
Does he have the speed we lack though? others have suggested Motty which I like more.Have read that one of the reasons Starce was considering leaving was the chance to become a midfielder.
I know Answorth was poor today, but now we have Kiddy back, and Gardner can play lock down defence, perhaps we could give him a crack, besides Dunkley and occasionally Rayner we really lack a big body in there.
Would really suck watching him become a midfield bull in another jumper.
I have been saying this for years.I can’t understand why none of our forwards want to lead at the ball. On so many occasions you see someone streaming through the centre looking for an option to kick to and all our forwards seem to want to get an easy goal out the back or take a screamer over the top. It is so predictable and the opposition teams all know it.

I think it's partially a game plan thing in trying to open up the ground by creating space behind them. Plus we have generally had faster more agile forwards than lead up couch guys.I have been saying this for years.
because I have trust in this group that have won a significant amount more games than any other club the last 6 and a half years, I have trust that they turned it around last year when most thought they couldn't, your question how can I be so certain? how can you be certain it wontAnd how can you be so certain of that?
Give McKenna a full game and put someone like Wilmot in the middle.
He would be lot more defensive and aggressive on the ball, I'd rather see someone else in the middle as a change up rather than same old ding dong. We are losing anyway, what's the worse that could happen?
He was sensational tonight. One of our only players prepared to risk his neck for the team. It’s clear that we have the talent to be better - but I haven’t seen it consistently enough, and at some point you have to be honest about who you are as a team.
It’s obviously not the end for this group of players and they could turn it around in the back half of the year and make a strong finals run. They are talented enough to turn it around but is the hunger there to do it?
Froggy actually committed to coming forward to pressure the ball on several occasions. Would be nice if some team mates did it too.

Fletcher is the one that I have hopes for that we might see end up in there at some stage. Doubt we’d do it this year, but I think he offers a point of difference to what we’ve got in that he has a bit more speed and seems a bit more defensively minded then the Ashcroft’s etc. He’s also a nice kick of the ball so if he can get more touches in the middle that can only be a good thing.Have read that one of the reasons Starce was considering leaving was the chance to become a midfielder.

Except for the fact that tonight was the first time we’ve lost in 5 weeks
Keep some toys in the cot, if you’re going to have a dorm crisis, you’d want to have it when 2 pts out of 1st place!
Yes your right.Except for the fact that tonight was the first time we’ve lost in 5 weeks

The Hipwood/Daniher comments was a swipe at our media detractors.Never ever thought we couldn’t win it with Joe at FF. He was one of the main reasons we could and did win it. You can’t see a glaring issue when the ball going forward?
Statistics will tell you we've fallen off a cliff defensively this season. It also tells us that we're not a top 4 team on paper, and the ladder position is a facade. We have the worst percentage of any team who was on top of the ladder, and even our percentage last season (when we were 12th) is higher than it is right now. Anyone who knows anything about AFL knows it's not where you are on the ladder that counts, it's how you're playing. And we have been off since the start of the season and only now are some of the fans are realising where we truly sit. You're using optimism and faith, which is fair, but the stats are telling us a different story.because I have trust in this group that have won a significant amount more games than any other club the last 6 and a half years, I have trust that they turned it around last year when most thought they couldn't, your question how can I be so certain? how can you be certain it wont
I secretly feel Jasper will be brisbanes best midfielder in a few more years hopefully he fills out a little more like Hugh has over the journey and can move from an outside roll to an inside one fingers crossed you can see the skill and footy iq in him already.Fletcher is the one that I have hopes for that we might see end up in there at some stage. Look at Essendon last season. 7 wins. 1 draw and 2 defeats after round 10. Awful percentage as well. Exactly the same position as us. If anything, that's what we should be fearing, because that's more of a reality than us winning finals at this point.
