Hammer was pretty good overall. The midfield was absolute shit and defence looks like it's got no cohesion. Up forward we have no tall target and only Higgins and Owens look like they are going to score most weeks.
Bring Keeler back.
If nothing else he provided a focal point and we won the games he was in the team.

Can someone explain where this 16 hours a week comes from?

And if this is the least hours in the AFL, who is responsible for this occurring?
Ross was touting it as a positive a month or two back in, I think, the pre-game press conference. Definitely said it.

He said it was amongst the lowest contact hours in the AFL

Its systemic across the whole list, the only bloke I would trust to stick a big tackle at the moment is Stocker.

Our strength and conditioning needs to be seriously looked at. We'd have to be one of the weakest teams out.

I think the other positive side of that is body strength would help with the type of injuries we keep having. No one believes we can prevent all our injuries but at least give the players the best physical size to compete and cope with the game.

Our player 'contact hours' were touched on in an article earlier in the year, not sure about the '16 hours' quoted but they basically summarised the general training/recovery/strategy work at the club. I haven't been able to find anything that substantiates how this compares to every other club, I'd be interested to see the different ways that every club manages that, but you don't need to let that get in the way of a good melt haha.

How the **** is that a positive.
Our skills are not up to scratch. But we will give them more free time? What a ****ing joke.

Lyon said he's got them for the least contact hours of any coach.

We bitched to the league about 5 day breaks, but then serve up bilge in consecutive weeks with 7 and 9 day breaks.

Absolute loser mentality.
You won't see all whingers about the draw and umps on here tonight as they copped a reality check, we are miles off being a half decent club in all respects

Probably see it as one less day to injure themselves. Need to get them stackhats and cricket pads to train in.

When we are talking about refining and improving skills I don't see it as a meltdown. I see it as a genuine concern.

We just lost to the team who hadn't won a game all year. We should be pissed. The club needs to be better.

I was writing a big paragraph but couldn’t be asked. Who are we kidding, the system isn’t set up for us to succeed. Call me defeatist, but I’m as optimistic as they come. We are unlikely to attract any real talent from other clubs if we continue to sh*t the bed, and the draft is broken. Also, I get “Saints Footy” is effort based and part of our DNA, but I wish we could just play a standard of football that is skill-based. I wish this club didn’t have me by the balls.

Take a first rounder for nas hes a headless turnover chook. Wilkie is horrid. Woods turnover killed us. Sincs played well. Steel wouldnt be a captain for the mangatang 3rds. Marshall well played. Butler i rest my case
We were rubbish but you need to put the bong down

How can we expect Nas to stay on the trajectory we are on?

A loss like that adds about 150k a year onto his contract. Gonna be paying him & TDK $4 million to help us finish 10th-12th for a couple of years.

Put Steele on ice. Give King the season to sort himself out for 2026. Cheers JWeb but we have to look at the next generation.

Play Barrat & Boxshall & Tauru & Arie. Get Keeler back in. We were actually winning with him in the F50.

Why did we pick up Jack Carroll? Play him and let's see if he's worth keeping.

We know that Collard and Hall are worth persisting with. Can we give them a couple of games off and throw Patrick Said in for a block? Just for shits and giggles.

If Heath isn't ever gonna get a game then chuck Boyd in for a month and see what he can do. Same with Dodson.

If we can trade picks 2 years in advance then I'd look to bring our first rounders forward to this season. All the northern clubs will be trying to get out and I think Essendon might be as well?

Try and hit this draft with 3-4 picks in the top 20.

If Nas leaves see if we can get Butters. If not then I guess it'll be Bergman and a pick.

The Steele/RoMa/Sinc/Wilkie generation is done. They will still get games but it should be in support roles, rather than being expected to carry the team week after week.

Time to hand the squad over to the kids, churn through the list, and let them sink or swim.

Because our coach has said it many many times

Still paying for our past **** ups.

I don't understand. This is the difficult part.
How are they not better than this.
We've seen what they can do.

Its not like these coaches are new to the game. Something's not adding up.

It's on field.

Steele is not a "classic" captain, the man is for me incapable of setting standards in a match where people give a shit about it. Wilkie has 3/4 as people respect that he knows his shit and when he says "go here, do this, this is your zone" you do it. Ro, nah, bloke can't even tap to advantage, Sincs, I hated him kicking 150 this match, look at what Pou did with Higgo advantage roost then translate that with Sincs running through mid and his up and under crap that got spoiled like the junk it was. Pou was the mark and swing on a set play, sincs was a handall chain and "options infront of me" on a run to space, night and day stuff.

It's a GCS entry level thing for me, as both those guys are taloented but only one of them was in the game and the other was going through motions.

So you have talented players or else they wouldn't be on a list.
You don't have a talented team as no one is enforcing shit when the game starts.
So when one talented person is in the game, you have Pou, where that skill expression is mint and the system works. When you have primarily a "I know what I'm doing but i cannae do it capn" then you get Sincs, where it works until that expression and suddenly it breaks down and you're contesting it and generally losing cause defense is easier than offense to maintain.

Coaches can only do so much during the match, as say, I'd really have liked Wilkie early doors to be all "hey Steele, GTFO to F50, hey mids, grown a brain" and fix that mess early doors with the CC & stoppage differentials, but then, D50 loses horribly with who you shift there so up the creek. But the reality is, Macrae came from success and is at the stage where he could really override some things and "this is shit, you've NFI, let me do it" only samer things occured as nothing changed.

So you have what GCS had previusly, moments it'll look great as talented people, but when you run intot eh wall of teams playing as teams, you shit the bed and look like you have NFI what you're doing.

It's up to our coaches to see that our team plays with composure and can execute.

If we get smart arse ross in the presser my blood will boil.
Not excusing Ross cos players being up and about is his job but....
How many times did number 5 bust from one side of the pack to the other with the ball in the first half?
Does he need to tell them to be hard at it?
They need to ****ing grow up. And that's the senior players.

TDK will be a really backwards move. Can't see it as anything but a bandaid.

Jack Steele, our captain for what, 5 years? He wouldn’t make the leadership team in any other club in the competition
