Not a lot.
A bit.
One player is never enough.
Merrett, Cripps etc all gun players and their teams still suck.
I don’t think you understand the point I’m making. It’s nothing to with identity politics. Maybe it’s woke but it’s not saying vote for your identity ffs
I know it’s one of your bugbears but I don’t think it matters at all whether they wear a pride jersey or a sir Doug Nicholls jersey. I don’t think it matters whether they play in white shorts or red shorts or even blackshorts.
I know you do so I’m just expressing my opinion on that.
But I agree with you on the embarrassment but I’ve had this view since the post match last year that this team has a weakness at it’s core and if you want to put it down to a woke culture go for it.
I just think we are playing a lot of incredibly average footballers and calling them afl players when a large number - Corey w Cleary Roberts are midfielders that we are playing as forwards or defenders and we are slow across the board and we are short across the board and we are small across the board.
I think if we got rid of all the woke stuff it wouldn’t make difference whatsoever in the field because when McLean is your number 1 tall forward and melican is your number 1 tall defender and then you compare these two to Jess hogan and Taylor or king and Collins or mihocek and Moore or wittering and chrnow we have the worst pair by the length of the Flemington straight
That’s our problem not the wokeness unless they made a whole lot of affirmative action unmeritorious choices
Players shouldn't be robots.Nicks wont like that

All in?We went all in after 22/23 with top ups for a flag , now what do we do blow it up , go young, change 4-5 in and out? ditch salary? we are further away from a flag then 3 years ago
Well yes true.
Bank corporate culture and fake "causes" are now synonymous.
That's what I mean by corporate culture.
"Diversity seminar" from NAB!
We now live in this bizarre world where corporate interests align themselves with social causes for marketing purposes and people lap it up.
It's ****ing bizarre
And Swans have gone full bore into this culture under Harley .
I don't think Harley is intelligent enough to understand the inherent contradiction here.
He really smells to me like Ben Roberts Smith. Good physique. Nice suits. Handsome . Aligned with corporate interests. Parrots corporate language. But thick as shit.
percentOh I don’t think it’s hard don’t focus on fancy off field things focus on the on field footy.I don’t think you understand the point I’m making.

100% think this is right, we have gone for the lightweight flankers too much. It's drafting AND development as you say. It's hard to know exactly how bad our drafting has been (and I have some gripes), when we've been largely outclassed in the VFL for the last 3 seasons.
I don't think we can suddenly improve the quality of top ups, so it's probably worth drafting a few more mature bodied 18 year olds even if they aren't the most talented / highest potential option at the pick. Ceiling might be lower, but they might actually hit it.
From what I can tell, you are upset the Swans support social issues (like every other club). Rather they should focus on football.I don’t think you understand the point I’m making.
Again missing my point. Players can believe and do what they like, but when club culture is rooted in non football business and not rooted in solely elite football culture then you can’t say you’re all in on performance.Oh I don’t think it’s hard don’t focus on fancy off field things focus on the on field footy.
I don’t think it’ll make the slightest difference whether they all came out and said they believe in land rights for gay whales or they got rid of all of that if McLean and melican represent your best two on field products.
You’re wrong and you have a comprehension issue, you read and comprehended what I wrote how you wanted it to sound so you could write a sarcastic snarky post. From what I can tell, you are upset the Swans support social issues (like every other club). Rather they should focus on football.
Do you want the Swans not to acknowledge indigenous round (that may not go down well), Anzac round (another lead balloon) or blood donations.
I’m sure not supporting these matters would have turned around a 15 goal deficit.
There's some good tackle training that could come from some of the stretching to find reasons for our form/off field performance. From what I can tell, you are upset the Swans support social issues (like every other club). Rather they should focus on football.

No need to shoot the messenger, but if the messenger is in his 9th season having played 110 games (no finals).Players shouldn't be robots.
Real focus should be on us
Swans are a rabble.
Don't shoot a messenger.
Could almost cop it if it came from a Lions, Cats, Pies, Tigers player etc that has walked the ultimate walk in recent years. No need to shoot the messenger, but if the messenger is in his 9th season having played 110 games (no finals).
A messenger should be careful when they sit in their ivory tower.
That isn't something unique to the Swans though. Today every single club in the AFL would be engaged in its fair share of diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives and have a corporate office to manage its brand. Kind of necessary when you're an entity that holds hundreds of millions of $ in assets.Again missing my point. Players can believe and do what they like, but when club culture is rooted in non football business and not rooted in solely elite football culture then you can’t say you’re all in on performance.
All you had to do is look at players and clubs social media accounts, where’s the focus?
You might think it means nothing but I’m telling you entire club focus on football matters.
Quality clubs which we have been for many years have been able to make the McCleans and Amartys winners because of club culture and standards.
Right now we have no standards, shit culture, poor coaching, poor front office.
I look at whats been put in front of me from the clubs social media, players social media and then look at performances the players are putting I can say the focus should be more football performance oriented. There's some good tackle training that could come from some of the stretching to find reasons for our form/off field performance.
Unless someone can point out that players are missing training, reviews etc because they're attending photo-shoots or in a talking circle opining about the issues of the day, then I don't know where people are getting this from.
Some of the fluff the club posts is tone deaf when form is bad, but there's good causes that should be recognised and supported publicly that make no difference to performance.
No need to shoot the messenger, but if the messenger is in his 9th season having played 110 games (no finals).

I didn’t say that players being distracted was the only reason for the performance, I said I believe the entires clubs focus isn’t where it should be and that’s part of the issue. That isn't something unique to the Swans though. Today every single club in the AFL would be engaged in its fair share of diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives and have a corporate office to manage its brand. Kind of necessary when you're an entity that holds hundreds of millions of $ in assets.
And if those initiatives make us more attractive to sponsors and foster a more inclusive community around the club then sure we should be engaged in that.
Marketing would take up a small proportion of the club's resources, if we ceased all social media activity and support on LGBTQ, indigenous causes it wouldn't have any effect on our on-field performance which is managed by the football department - overwhelmingly where the majority of our resources go.
It's not players and coaches are too distracted by social issues, it's that we've made a number of mistakes spanning multiple years relating to list management, drafting, coaching and tactics that have led us to where we are now. Our football department needs to start making better decisions to turn things around or it needs to be overhauled.
Absolutely, if people are going to get offended it should be by the putrid performance the players and coaches are putting in.Jeez people are determined to be insulted / outraged these days.
We lost by 90 points. An opponent stated what we are all thinking and saying.
We complain when players are robots & complain when they’re not.

Round 18 the Swans will be supporting Pride round. Pencil that in for a loss now? You’re wrong and you have a comprehension issue, you read and comprehended what I wrote how you wanted it to sound so you could write a sarcastic snarky post.
This is exactly what happened.Absolutely agree.
A few years back we had exciting young players emerging, to support a number of quality players in their prime.
Now those quality players are in decline & near the end, the exciting youngsters have plateaued (or gone backwards) and our recent drafts have been poor.
Our window is shut & I fear grim times are ahead UNLESS we pull off some very astute trade and draft moves this year.
Fox Footy is trying to pump it up as a story …. trying to get the outrage machine going.Hardly outraged. It was a dumb comment to make public (no problem of they think it). 13 games ago we played in a grand final. Millera hasn’t played a final 9 seasons.
