Crippa has always been a good recoveree - he usually gets back into the swing of it pretty swiftly too.

He's basically the Anti-Yeo.
Cripps has always been a freak. He went to my High School and the head sports teacher told the story of how the GNFL grand final was the day after the school sports carnival. Usually this could lead to kids taking it easy, especially with such a competitive game happening the next day. But Jaime Cripps didn't do it the easy way. Instead he went out and won champion boy winning pretty much everything before dominating the next day in the final. Dudes a competitive freak.

Also has Type 1 Diabetes which I'm sure makes things harder for him.

Well one of JWs goals was direct from Reid; to be concise; Reid’s fast thinking.
Longs goal from the OA assist came from a fantastic Reid one on two spoil.
His chasing, his bodywork, even his ruckwork/follow up was impressive .JW is a very smart footballer but he lacks the pace/stamina to do the follow up work required in the modern game. His ruck work is handy.I like him and want him in the team but Reid is already a better all round player.
No he isn't. Forwards should be able to have some accuracy when having set shots.
He is a momentum killer. When he needs to convert a set shot he is a poor man's Harry mckay in you know he will miss.
He should learn to kick before he gets a game at Afl level.

Judging a footballer by his kicking at goals?
You wouldn’t have given Juddy a game then.
That will improve.I feel he will be destined for defence anyway.Wherever he plays he will work hard.

As a key forward? No.

It’s not unfair to expect your goal kickers to kick goals.

What a strange call.

Judging a key forward by their kicking for goal is perfectly valid.

And Judd averaged 58% from shots on goal during his time with us, and only had one season where he kicked more behinds than goals. Reid is averaging 33%.

Bailey has about 3 hitouts to advantage this year. He's not a ruckman. He's in the team as a forward that can pinch hit if he's in the team at all. He's a generally poor mark and adds very little around the ground. We're going to lose the ruck battle. Not convinced Bailey is much better than Flynn around the ground so can't understand bringing a worse ruck contest player in if the benefits around the ground are marginal.

I somewhat understand the calls to bring Bailey in for Archer or JWill to make it more of a scrap but taking our best ruckman out for the Xerri matchup seems insane to me.
Flynn is not our best ruck at all. He loses virtually every ruck contest. His only value is taking the odd mark around the ground. Bailey is the opposite - he is pretty bad around the ground but at least gets first hands on the footy. The problem with Bailey is that even if he gets first hands to it, he taps it straight to the opposition every time. Archer and JW are a much better ruck combination, but they don’t have the fitness or body conditioning yet to do it all game, hence bringing Bailey in to at least stop Xerri from tapping it wherever he wants like he will do with Flynn in the ruck.

Come on now. Winning 33% of your ruck contests isn’t great by any stretch of the imagination, but it’s not “losing virtually every ruck contest”.

Imagine if we had four wins from 12 games to this point and people were complaining that we “lose virtually every game”.

Both our rucks are spuds and both of them are probably the two worst main rucks in the comp. It wouldn’t be such an issue if our midfield wasn’t so bad and inexperienced.

Bailey Williams would be fine if he played forward and rucked 10-20% of the time. Every time we try that our #1 ruck gets injured or turns out to not be very good.
His WAFL stint has been really good but he has to maintain that. Prior to coming back he’s been an unreliable set shot and a even more unreliable mark/contested mark. As fwd/ruck he just has the traits to be dangerous enough to take a dangerous key backmen away from one of our forwards or even better draw a miss match.

Yeah. Was wondering if part of ‘managed’ was ‘we’re going to ask you to do XYZ as part of our Xerri plans - and that’s gonna take a lot of energy/physicality - so we’ll rest you for a week to get ready’.

Guess we’ll see what The Plan is on game day. (Of course he may just have been in need of a break.😁 )

Reid survives another goalless week, crazy but not even surprised at this point.

Not sure I'm liking Flynn going up against Xerri on his own with only Reid/Jilliams as backup. From memory wasn't that what we had in the pre season game when Xerri ran wild and made Flynn and our ruck division look totally pathetic?

Bailey had to come in for mine. Dangerous to leave him out 😬 What could possibly go wrong?

Strange call? So you judge a player on his kicking for goal?
The fact that he’s quicker, better tackler ,better mark and certainly equal or higher in footy IQ than JW. But JW is a better player?
The Judd figures you throw up; are they related to all shots in goal or only set shots. Big difference

What do you mean? I'm pretty sure most felt that if someone was going to go out it was going to Jack?

Agree that having Baz coming in to help Flynn in the ruck would have been a better plan, and Baz should have come in for Jack.

I don't think any coach is telling their forwards that goals are the metric on which they're being judged. They'd be telling them to compete in contests, not get out marked, bring the ball to ground and help create goals for your team. If you think about it that way, Archer has been doing all those things, and doing them better than Jack Williams. Don't think we should be rewarding guys for getting on the end of Joe the goose goals personally.
