I reckon the suggestion is that you'd be able to bundle the Worps compo with Carlton's 1st (Top 10), our 2026 1st & 2027 1st.

That's 4x1sts (depending on Worps' compo).

I'd hope that we'd not even consider trading 4x 1sts for a single player (without multiple 2nds coming back), but it's a very big trade hand to shop with.

*I don't thin Worps is leaving, by the way.
Forgot that future trading was 2 years now. Interested how that goes - as you say, 4 1sts is a huge amount to give up for any player but someone will do it (I'm looking at you Saints) and it has the potential to torpedo a teams future if they overate their own list (now looking at you too Carlton).

Anyway, on topic, while I'd love to get first round compo for Worps,I really don't see it - love what Worps brings to our team but he's not a 900k a year player (particularly if Cats who never pay big $$s).

Players like Hustwaite, Serong, Ramsden, Ryan, Maginess, Reeves, Macdonald, Mitchell, Blanck, etc. wont garner much value.

I'd be loath to lose a young gun like Weddle, Mackenzie, Mraz, Ward, McCabe, Butler or MacDonald. Though I'd probably make peace pretty quickly with the latter two being any part of a deal for Butters, once the first few interviews are uploaded.

If we have to lose senior players, then I'd be fine with using any of Worpel, Nash (can't see that ever happening though), CJ and Morrison for a deal with Butters. Maybe Lewis too, depending on how he finishes the season.

Regardless of what we do, I'd hope we keep:
Forwards - Dear, Wizard, Ginnivan, Moore, Chol
Mids - Meek, Newcombe, Day, Mackenzie, Ward, D'Ambrosio
Backs - Scrimshaw, Battle, Hardwick, Barrass, Amon, Impey, Weddle, Sicily
Yeah I consciously didn't name any names like you did with the view that the majority in here would all have different opinions on who could / should be used as trade bait 😂

This is true but that's when you threaten to match to get what you need

Springvale is a 10 minute drive from the KCC.

Sponsorship deal with Bun Bun incoming?
Bun Bun is better than anything i've had in footscray (although I admit i may not know the best shops there). There are a few other really good ones in Springvale too.

More and more clubs are going to be motivated to move on players for better offers than they’d get for FA compo a year out of free agency. Hopefully we can get in both his and Port’s ears and give both an offer they can’t refuse.
Only the top teir like butters are worth multiple first round picks though.

There are many players that clubs force into taking free agency offers as the compensation picks are better than a trade would offer. Josh Battle wouldn't have been such a high pick. And pick 2 for Oscar Allen is going to happen, when they'd be looking at 25 and 28 on a trade market.

For those who are adamant that Butters is going to sign a new deal with Port Adelaide then why hasn't he already done so given according to some he has been offered a new 2 year contract with the option of a 6 year extension on what has been described as the most lucrative deal in AFL history. I truly believe he is not only testing the market but also is seriously contemplating a move back to Victoria.

He's not currently out of contract.

However good a player is it is ludicrous to trade 4 × 1st for a one player. This is not tennis. You need 18 to a team and at least 10 to 15 good ones among that 18.
Remember Sydney - they never won a cup in the 10 years Buddy played how ever good he was.

Who knows Ollie Wines might need to retire due to heart issues at seasons end.

Another scare this year.

They need him more if this was to happen.

Just cant see him leaving.

He has one foot out the door, just depends whether he leaves this year or next

Lucky I made it pretty clear in my post that we'd not even consider it!

Hopefully we're going all in on Reid

Walsh, Butters, etc aren't going to be the same as Harley. Just get it done.

Butters and Reid (once he's developed and fitter) are transformational players. Butters would instantly become our best player, and Reid has all the potential to become one of, if not the, best player in the league.

Imagine a midfield of Butters, Day and Newcombe. With Nash, Ward, Mackenzie and Moore as rotational options.

Snagging either would be incredible. But I don't think we get either of them unfortunately.

I'm not too enthused on the idea of bringing Walsh in - if it is even a possibility or a consideration. It would be price dependent.
