And watching a little closer yesterday it's fair to say I've under estimated just how good May is. His ability to read the play and his timing is a little freakish
With all due respect to May, I reckon even I could have taken a half dozen intercept marks with our first half entries.

Step 1: Stand 30m away from the kicker on a 45 degree angle.
Step 2: Take uncontested mark as ball travels down throat.

I think what I noticed was that he was playing to some degree more like a "goal keeper" than specifically a key defender. Often it seemed he didn't engage in contests that weren't going to directly threaten to score.

His ability to hedge his bets was impressive. His timing to get to contests was phenomenal as was his decision making on whether to mark or spoil.

Sure, he certainly got some kicked down his throat though.

Great news about Rash.
Port adhering with Ken's mantra until the bitter end..
"you get what you deserve"

One to add to the ugly pile: what was the story of the line marking at AO not being refreshed during the week? Did they forget to do it, or couldn't be arsed? The leftovers from last week looked pretty shabby when the sun was out - it was almost impossible to see the outer center circle.

I noticed that it looked very shabby during the twos, annoyingly so, but then it didn't worry me for the ones.

From what Peatling had said after the game it sounds like they may have taken him straight in to get a scan, so Nicks wouldn't have had a chance to talk to him at that point.
Fair enough then.
Fair play...

Mark Keane has been fined for striking Melksham
I saw that he had a swing, but I didn't think he connected.

I'm not advocating thuggery on the footy field but I love his Irish enthusiasm for the contest.

Could be a club cult hero in the making.

It's significant, but injuries happen and we've had a good run. I'd now be playing Rankine almost exclusively forward. If they persist again with Murphy as the random "pressure floater" instead of an extra mid they're idiots.
Playing Murphy for the rest of the year as a Rach replacement will be the end of our Cinderella flag chance.

Dowling can provide forward line tackling pressure and ground ball gets but also has offensive attributes. Murphy simply doesn't contribute enough for selection.

The Rachele injury is extra bad because now we have to bring in a player who has barely played this year with just 7 rounds to go and get them fully up to speed for finals football
Not necessarily. Draper and Pedlar have both had a good block of games and are most likely - Taylor stays in when otherwise he might have been dropped
And some of the younger guys who might get bought in instead will at least be fresh which gives them more chance of string some weeks together

The Benetton ad rugby union ‘match’ between Australia/New Zealand and England/Wales/Scotland/Ireland is here Saturday night, so it’s probably to help wash out the markings before they put the rugby markings in.

Apparently the AFL has come to say the Keays goal should have been called a point.

Everyone apparently ignoring that he used the point post to cling onto to hit the ball (if he even touched it). Free kick and sure goal in any event.
Yeah .. interesting. Had both feet off of the ground as well.

Who the Sydney player that was trying to climb the post when there was a set shot after the final siren?
