Isn’t there a limited overs tour and t20’s? Thought I read that somewhere
this was initially a 2 test tour with 3 odi's and 3 T20's.

i think it was changed around xmas time to 3 tests (coz they are keen on playing a minimum 3 test series these days).

they removed the odi's and added 2 T20's with the world cup approaching.

i think because of the lack of odi's smith, stoinis, maxwell threw in the towel for that format.

Nothing to do with Aussies, tests all around the world start on Wed/Thurs/Fri

If this test does go 5 days then its finishing on a Wednesday lol

Don't act like it isn't weird scheduling

Don’t kid yourself it ain’t going 5 days lol if we get 3 I’d be shocked

What month is this? Please tell me it’s before the Ashes these bats need more matches and SA with their attack is a great prep for the ashes

Tests basically always start on a Wednesday or Thursday though

Should be on tonight

I guess they think it won't last more than 3 days which is pretty fair

Why should it start Thurs in fact it stinks that our ones do in our summer unless it’s a D/N it’s hard to go unless you deliberately take leave. Should start Friday at the earliest

Again, what does it have to do with tests anywhere or everywhere else?

You are a home board that struggles to attract crowds. You are hosting a test at your largest island. A day night test where sessions will go into prime time on a Sunday night if you take it late into a third day - not always a guarantee.

When if you exclude ‘it’s just what people do’ would you think they’d start? MAYBE Friday but then you run the risk of Sunday being a bust if the hosts shit the bed.

So just do it Saturday and Sunday and ensure you get two full weekend days/nights of cricket.

Especially for a D/N test I mean both sides have barely lasted 3 days, the pink ball swings MORE. I’d be doing exactly what they are doing start it sat/sun then worry about the other days .

Part of it also comes down to the calendar & when the 1st test started...The 2nd test was scheduled to finish on Monday, so this test couldn't start until Friday at the earliest...Plus it being the 3rd back to back match they probably decided to give the teams an extra 4 day break between the matches instead of 3.

Congratulations to Mitch Starc on reaching 100 Test matches, becoming the 17th Australian and 4th front line bowler to achieve this feat alongside Shane Warne, Glenn McGrath and Nathan Lyon.

His journey to this wonderful milestone entails nearly 400 Teat wickets, a 99 with the willow, missing 6 of his first 7 Boxing Day Tests, a strike rate 2nd only to the great Dale Steyn of Test cricket's top 20 wicket-takers and goodness knows how many pie-shop references on this site. .

Day Night in the tropics where it's more likely to be dewy could just get ugly - both in terms of batting, but also bowling with a slippery ball.

Almost good if the bowlers bowl terribly might make the game go longer

See the Suns/Pies game now.

some speculation that Lyon will be replaced by Boland

doubt it happens though

When you have a seam bowling all rounder I don’t really see the benefit in going with the fourth seamer.

If I was Cummins, and I’d much rather go in to a test knowing I’ve got Lyon in my back pocket (even if I don’t end up using him), then have 5 pace options.

If leaving out Lyon, because you think it's going to be a seamers paradise - I'd go with an extra batsman.

yeah its a blunder imo going into any test match without a front line spinner
